Here's the situation..

I rent this room in an apartment, with 3 other guys. The apartment building has three floors and 4 apartments on each floor. A total of 48 people live in this building. The stupid apartment people decided to get a DSL connection that we ALL! share. So the connection is terrible. On average I get a speed of 40 bits/sec if not slower, which is worse than dial-up. Even though the apartment people are violating the lease by having this silly set-up, they're not doing squat about it. So I am wondering, is there a way I can steal some bandwidth from these bastards :fero: ?

Plz help!

thanx

Well if you have a phone line, you could get your own DSL connection.. :undecide:
I do, but not I'm gonna pay for an extra connection, when they are supposed to provide me w/one. I've battled with them for two months now, but I've given up. They're not gonna do anything about it, and they're not gonna give me back my money.

Oh I see, what kind of link are you entitled to according to your lease?
Well it only says "internet", doesn't specify which. But if they've given DSL, it should be DSL, because that's what we were told prior to signing it. So they can't trick us by telling us it's DSL and then giving us dial up or something.

Well technically it is still DSL, just shared across tons of users :D

I don't think there's much you can do to get preferential treatment on the network though, course I'm not network specialist..
