While USA is by no means a strong national team, the fact they are not there is a HUGE upset and terrible for the game long term.

And to think, the 2 leagues representing the biggest threat to Europe's top leagues - China superleague and the MLS - with all those imported players supposedly trying to lift the local game - and they both can't qualify.

Amazing when you think about it.

Higuain is a 50/50 at best to make the squad.

China and the US are not threats to Europe. They are retirement homes

USA have been doing that for 40 years and it's a retarded strategy. If USA, China, Russia, Qatar and all the other places old footballers go for a paycheck invested those millions in infrastructure and decent coaches by now they'd be way closer to European/South American level

Idk man, teams like Costa Rica can hang with the big dogs. Then you have the obvious two, US and Mexico.

Europe needs to get less teams
And who would you give the spots to?

It's fine as it is, honestly. Nothing more can be done to get the most deserving teams to the World Cup. Europe has the strongest and deepest region by far, just look at who isn't qualifying. 6 of the top 10 FIFA ranked teams. 13/20 ranked. 24/40 ranked. That's 60% of teams but they get 42% of qualifying spaces. Seems about right on the basis of making the game global.

China are absolute garbage, they won't qualify for the next 2 World Cups minimum.

WC 2026 will have retarded 48 teams and you'll all have your wish, it'll become almost impossible for the big teams to not qualify, even if they suck ass at the qualifiers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_FIFA_World_Cup#Slot_allocation

I can see them qualifying for 2026, AFC will have 8 places instead of 4.5, they'll naturalize a few Brazilians, pay them lots of gold and qualify

It's amazing that Argentina has so mich talent, and it still ends up with Messi carrying the team heavier than I've ever seen another player carry a team.

i don't know what to say. i mean messi is not my fav player, he has his style sometimes can be fun sometimes can be boring, but but.. the guy is savage ! he is one of the most unstoppable players. if he is in good mood, u can be fucked so easily. and yesterday he just went God mode.

Wouldn't happen. Messi scored an international hattrick against an actually decent team instead of an Andorra. Not just that but two of them brilliant goals and only one was a tap in, from a play which he created by the way.

Messi was absolutely everything good for Argentina tonight
