No but they took offense like he was doing it to denigrate/insult their flag, missunderstanding prolly since he was just trying to stop the farce. Pretty sure anyone in the balkans would react the same, very tense/sensitive bunch when it comes to eachother.

Still, he should've left the ref deal with it.
Seriously?

The ref should have protected the flag?

Did you watch the clips when that hooligan who hit Balaj with the chair was going for the flag, then Cana kicked his ass and a guy from our staff got it safely to the bench and then the UEFA official took it as an evidence.

If not for our players that flag would be burning in the stands, if anything you should be proud for what the players did tonight and not criticize them.

I didn't realize the fans were already on the field before the flag went down. If they hadn't jumped in, I would've let the ref take it. All I'm saying is that it wasn't a good idea for the Serb player to handle it.

Yeah, but since he did it, our players reacted in the best way they could.

Yeah, I didn't see the whole story at first because it was on my stream and it was choppy but once I saw the replays I agree with what they did. He shouldn't have touched it.

Albanian players went full retard. Serbian guy was just taking the flag down. I don't understand why Albania is being awarded 3 points here. Their fan (brother of PM apparently) instigated the whole ordeal and the Serbian player was simply lowering the flag and in the video you can see he took it off the rope and handed it to another Serbian player who was just holding it. No disrespect there whatsoever. If anyone disrespected anyone it was the provocation of flying the flag in the first place. That being said the fans being allowed to invade the pitch and fight the players and the stewards joining the fight is completely unacceptable.

Both teams need to be penalized.

edit: Just saw the video made by a fan. Albanian players should thank the Serbian players for protecting them.

    Brother of PM

So the Albanian flag was a provocation, but the non-stop chants about killing Albanians and stuff like that were okay.

What gave the serbian players the right to get the flag, of course our players were going to try and get it, and it wasn't even a fight.

By tahirs joke of a logic every time there is pushing between the players the fans should invade the pitch and both sides should be punished, doesn't matter which side they are.

They fucking hit our players, of course the game stops and we get the points, it's not even debatable.

Vs Italy they lost and got disqualified just because of the flares thrown on the pitch, let alone hitting the players.

Some people should really use the preview option before posting.

 I mean, yeah that was nice of them. But seriously? That's just common courtesy. What were they gonna do? Join the fans? And then have Serbia kicked off of international competitions forever?

A match between these two and you think the fans will be singing Kumbaya? If this match was played in Pristina the fans would have been equally provocative and you know that.

Who gave the right? Why does he need the right? He was simply closest to it and took it down and no disrespect was shown. Who gave the right to fly it? It wasn't even the actual flag of Albania ffs. I was against the pitch invasion, not sure what you're going on about.

In any case, my point of view is neutral. I have no dog in in this century old hatred fight of yours.

From what I saw,, the Serb player who took down the flag was clearly annoyed. That annoyed approach applied to a national flag will always send an aggressive message no matter what. Especially when the nations are represented in a competition.

Balkans should know better about what happens when players take down an opposing team's flag instead of the officials and security staff on the pitch. Really...

It wasn't just an Albanian flag. It was the Albanian flag over a map of Great Albania, which includes territories of almost all Albania's neighboring countries. If you have in mind that only 15 years ago Serbia and Belgrade were bombed by NATO over this (Kosovo) and if you try to understand the Serbian emotions over losing Kosovo, you might understand the anger of the people there.
This is like playing a Muslim country, and a drone flies over with a picture of Mohammed touching himself while watching a photo of Justin Bieber. Or playing Israel and a photo of Hitler flies over the stadium in Tel Aviv.

The anger of the people in the stadium was understandable. What should be judged is the reaction of the players who attacked the Serb that put down the "flag", and, of course, the failure of the security to stop the fans from entering the stadium.
