Insigne has got what, 2 games under his belt for Nazionale? Verratti maybe 5, it's hardly a given, so far Prandelli hasn't given them much chances to get familiar with the team.
If I'm not wrong this was Insigne's second senior cap & Verratti's fourth. Hopefully they'll be integrated more before the WC.

Better second half from Italy.

Insigne, Verratti and Florenzi have very bright futures for Italy. Good to see some high quality youngsters get their chance.

Prandelli needs to use the back 3 more often. Italy lacks the CBs (and the fullbacks) to play in a back 4 now. I lost count on the number of positional errors made tonight. He also needs to stop picking scrubs like Maggio, Montolivo and Osvaldo.

Yeah, RB especially is a weak point, neither Maggio nor Abate are anywhere near world class. De Sciglio has potential to be, but he's still very young.

Also, De Rossi was being used as a CB today.

De Rossi should be used as a sweeper... he would be perfect !

I think in almost any other NT, Marchetti would be a starter. Unlucky that he's the same nationality as Buffon. He doesn't get as much praise as he deserves.

I would still go with Buffon in a World Cup though. Just too much experience to pass up. But Marchetti is great, I remember how he kept stopping Juve last year, was so annoying!

Just like the commentators of Rai 1, I thought that Verratti had a poor game. He was constantly making mistakes by slide tackling when it was not neccessary and it cost Italy when Higuain scored. He did the same mistake again against Di Maria and only Marchetti's magic saved Italy from conceding another goal.

His aggressiveness is a big problem too. I love when player is determined and gives his 100%, but Verratti really has to learn when to take fouls and when not to. At least 2 or 3 of his fouls today were completely useless, it wasn't a potential dangerous attacking play stoping fouls, it was just plain stupid fouls, which didn't help at all. He needs to learn how to control emotions, because if he pulls a couple of tricks like that in the WC and gets a completely unnecessary yellow card, he will put the whole team in danger for the rest of the match.

The potential and talent is definitely there, but he needs to continue to work hard if he wants that Pirlo's spot in the future.
