Sporting Lisbon 0-0 Inter

Lisbon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inter emerge unscathed from their first leg clash with Sporting Lisbon and can feel confident of a spot in the Champions' League.

Hector Cuper's men certainly started out well and on 21 minutes goalkeeper Tiago performed heroics. First he parried a powerful Christian Vieri effort, then Domenico Morfeo's follow-up before Sergio Conceicao blasted over the bar.

Francesco Coco made a good impression on Nerazzurri fans when he recovered a difficult situation, clearing the ball after it had already slipped past Francesco Toldo.

The home side increasingly took control of the match and at the dawn of the second half Toldo was forced to palm a tricky Barbosa effort round the upright.

Alvaro Recoba stepped onto the field for the final 25 minutes, but it was Morfeo who went closest to grabbing a precious away goal. The former Fiorentina midfielder's effort was stopped only by a goalline clearance.

Soon after Morfeo's fine volley hit the side-netting and Recoba began to have an influence on the game. However, the Uruguayan set up two goals for a clearly tired Vieri, only for the hitman to waste both with only the 'keeper to beat.

I have just seen slight highlights of this game and Vieri missed a chance very similar to the one he missed against south Korea

from a Juve standpoint a Good run from INter in the CL
will certainly benefit us in the Scudetto Race

Since I see the as our main competitors

but also know Cuper is a 11 Squad man
who hates rotating.....

A Long CL season will making Inter weary

Just as Valencia always got a bad run at the end of the season due to long and tideous cup play

SO GO INTER :D
