Today, Giorgio Chiellini underwent medical tests following his early exit from Sunday's match against Napoli.

Following the examinations, in which appropriate caution was taken due to the nature of the injury, it has been revealed that Chiellini suffered a tear to the biceps femoris muscle in his left knee.

Chiellini, who will undergo further tests, has already started his therapy.

Mandzukic back for Coppa | Football Italia

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic will reportedly miss the Bologna game, but he should be fit for the Coppa Italia final with Milan.

The Croatian suffered a deep wound to his lower right leg after a tackle by Inter’s Matias Vecino, and had 10 stitches on Sunday.

According to today’s Corriere dello Sport, the injury will keep Mandzukic out of Saturday’s Bologna game, but he’s hoping to be back for the cup final.

It’s a crucial stage of the season for the Bianconeri, who could win the Scudetto this weekend if they beat the Rossoblu and their city rivals Torino beat Napoli.

Juve provide update on Mandzukic ahead of Coppa Italia final | Calciomercato.com

Mario Mandzukic, Mattia De Sciglio and Stefano Sturaro trained with the rest of the Juventus squad during today's training session. Mandzukic should recover in time for the Coppa Italia final against Milan on Wednesday. Here is the official club statement on the matter.
"Significant steps have been taken towards another Scudetto, however, not we will have to switch focus to the Coppa Italia final against Milan. In Rome, Juventus will go hunting for their fourth consecutive Coppa Italia title. This morning, the Bianconeri started working ahead of the game.
"The team, as always in the post-game days, was divided into two groups: one, composed of players who played against Bologna, engaged in a recovery job, the other in athletic and technical exercises. Sturaro, De Sciglio and Mandzukic also belonged to this group."

The Turin side came back from going behind against Bologna, eventually winning 3-1 after Douglas Costa proved his worth on the pitch.

Spinazzola to go under the knife? | Football Italia

Atalanta full-back Leonardo Spinazzola may require surgery on a knee injury, according to reports.

The Italian international, who is expected to return to Juventus in the summer, has been out since March with a sprained knee.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is reporting that he may have torn his meniscus, a diagnosis which will be confirmed by knee specialist Pier Paolo Mariani at the Villa Stuart clinic tomorrow.

Spinazzola will be seen by the surgeon in the morning, and if the worst is confirmed he’ll go under the knife on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

From Di Marizo:

There is no peace for Leonardo Spinazzola, lateral class '93 owned by Juventus, on loan all'Atalanta. Off the field since last March for a sprained right knee, the back now risks the operation. The last diagnosis is suspected of breaking the meniscus, which tomorrow will have to be confirmed by Prof. Mariani at Villa Stuart. Decisive visit in the morning and in the worst case scenario between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

Spinazzola has ACL surgery
By Football Italia staff

Atalanta wing-back Leonardo Spinazzola, on loan from Juventus, has had surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The Italy international had tests today at the Villa Stuart clinic that showed the injury to his right knee was worse than previously feared.

The medics found both a lesion to the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial meniscus, read a statement from Atalanta.

Spinazzola had surgery today and it remains to be seen how long he’ll be out for, but this type of injury usually requires four to six months out.

This could have a knock-on effect for Juventus, as Spinazzola's arrival was meant to clear the way for Kwadwo Asamoah or even Alex Sandro to leave Turin.

Only today there were reports Manchester United were close to a €50m deal for Alex Sandro.

The Selecao are beginning work for the tournament in Russia next month.

In a Press conference, CBF chief medic Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed Douglas Costa had arrived “complaining of pain at the back of his thigh.

“We performed tests and found a slight injury, so will work separately in training for a few days. He may well miss the first friendly, but we don’t expect him to be at risk for the World Cup.”
