Alen you think Zlatan would score more goals than Villa? Because we are talkin about a player who is to replace basically Eto in the lineup, a player who scores loads of goals every season.
The difference isn't so big.
In the last 3 seasons Villa scored 16, 18 and 28 goals respectively while Zlatan scored 15, 17 and 25.
If you compare the leagues and the type of football played in both leagues (offense vs defense) then Zlatan's numbers are maybe even better than Villa's.
Still, in principal i agree with you. Zlatan does score a lot and he does creates most of the goals by himself. He's not the type of player who waits for the others to do all the job for him, like Pippo or Trez. But in Barca's case that's the player they need. Someone who only needs to make the last touch after Messi, Xavi and the others do most of the job. Someone who is fast, who has good positioning.
So if they are buying a striker they should buy that kind of striker.
But this case is similar to Melo-D'Agostino. Perhaps we needed a player like D'Agostino more, but it doesn't mean that just because we needed him more we should have paid twice his realistic price.
The same is with Villa-Zlatan. Villa might be more useful to Barca but they didn't want to pay 30% or 50% more than his real value is. They were really overpaying even with the 50 mil they offered to Valencia. Zlatan's market price is higher than Villa's. Zlatan is more spectacular player, he has more fans worldwide and he can bring more money. And afterall, he's the better player.
I want to say that what Barca are doing might not be the smartest solution if the goal is to make Barcelona a better team, and it probably isn't, but Zlatan being more expensive than Villa is nothing to wonder about.
