Del Piero made the record with less match appearances than Bonneperti.
I think Bonniperti was like 460 matches and DP was 420 matches or so just before the season started.

He only won twice. The 1997 was quite sensible, though not 100%, but ok. 2002 was a joke. A good wc doesn't erase a whole year not playing and that lazio game, . After Del Piero didn't win it in 1995 and 1996 it became a joke for me. 2002 just pissed me off. i think the real question though is why owen won it in 2001!
He won it three times, Something its either 97, 98 snf 2002 OR 96,97 and 2002 (more of the 2nd one I think).

In 1996 it should've been either Del Piero or Klinsman, but I think Ronaldo took it instead. In 1998 it really should've been Del Piero fantastic season..'
In 2002 it was a big joke that Ronaldo won it. He had a terrible season with Inter. When they were giving the awards, Khan won the world cup best player so logically it should've been anyone but Ronaldo for golden ball since they said that Khan was better during the WC and Ronaldo only played well in the WC.
In my opinion Ronaldo is one of the most over-rated players I have ever seen.

Mid 90s he was good, afterwards he just became another fast regular player (if you exclude WC 2002).
Owen is better than him, so is Sheva, infact Sheva has been always better than him.

Well thats your opinion.

My opinion is that Ronaldo is an over rated player. Sheva's perfornace with DinamoKiev and Milan has been absolutely great he is one of those UNSTOPPABLE forwards.

I totally agree with you. :agree:

Ronaldo in his prime (ie. before he got injured) is the greatest player I have ever seen, even better than Maradona. I know people won't feel the same but if you'd seen him back then I think you'd agree.

Football is all about opinions si i guess you are entitled to yours. But when we all leave this place called earth and they are collating the best footballers ever, Maradona will either be first or second, second because unlike Pele he was not a so called ambassador for the sport because of his off the field problems but as a footballer and footballer only, he should be regrded as the greatest ever. Ronaldo at his prime was not better than Dp at his and they are both below Zidane at his prime. Ronaldo is a great footballer and one of the all time greats but to me he is below Marco Van Basten and as a centre forward , not as complete as Sheva as he cannot head to save his life but both in their prime, might be a tie as they are both fantastic

As I said before it is your opinion. I've watched Ronaldo since he came out, same for Del Piero and same for Sheva..
Ronaldo played few good seasons, at barca and inter. But even before he got injured I wasnt really impressed by him. Some was due to the fact that media was talking about him as if he was god, which brought the over-rated issue.
He got injured, so did Ale.
Since that injury the only time Ronaldo has played decently was in the WC2002. On the other hand Alex Del Piero played a bad first season after injury and then bounced back. You can argue that he did not return to what he was but you cannot, atleast in my opinion, say that he did not have many good seasons afterwards and you cannot say that his current season is bad. Infact he is always impressing when he plays whether he scores or not. Mind you Del Piero is older than Ronaldo which means that it should've been the other way around. Ronaldo is playing the La Liga where Alex is playing in the Serie A... I don't want to turn this into a DP V Ronaldo discussion, I just brought DP as a comparision of a player that got seriously injured and has bounced back from it, severly critisezed by the media though. Besides, Ronaldo doesn't have the mentality to be great.. This is why he will never be a true legend.

In my opinion comparing Ronaldo to Maradona is not right. Maradona was a phenomena, Ronaldo cannot exceed "just another good brizilian player".
Ronadlinho has the potential to compete with the big names but he has to maintain his form.
This is why if I wanted to chose the best two forwards in the last decade I would chaose Del Piero and Sheva.
