As I said before it is your opinion. I've watched Ronaldo since he came out, same for Del Piero and same for Sheva..
Ronaldo played few good seasons, at barca and inter. But even before he got injured I wasnt really impressed by him. Some was due to the fact that media was talking about him as if he was god, which brought the over-rated issue.
He got injured, so did Ale.
Since that injury the only time Ronaldo has played decently was in the WC2002. On the other hand Alex Del Piero played a bad first season after injury and then bounced back. You can argue that he did not return to what he was but you cannot, atleast in my opinion, say that he did not have many good seasons afterwards and you cannot say that his current season is bad. Infact he is always impressing when he plays whether he scores or not. Mind you Del Piero is older than Ronaldo which means that it should've been the other way around. Ronaldo is playing the La Liga where Alex is playing in the Serie A... I don't want to turn this into a DP V Ronaldo discussion, I just brought DP as a comparision of a player that got seriously injured and has bounced back from it, severly critisezed by the media though. Besides, Ronaldo doesn't have the mentality to be great.. This is why he will never be a true legend.

In my opinion comparing Ronaldo to Maradona is not right. Maradona was a phenomena, Ronaldo cannot exceed "just another good brizilian player".
Ronadlinho has the potential to compete with the big names but he has to maintain his form.
This is why if I wanted to chose the best two forwards in the last decade I would chaose Del Piero and Sheva.
Agree with some, disagree with other bla bla bla.

Maradona was a much better player then Ronaldo but Ronaldo isnt exactly shit either. If he scores 4 goals in the upcoming WC he will be the greatest scorer of all time.

Thats sumthin IMO.

Ronaldo's injury completely ruined him, he was out for basically two years. Del Piero was able to almost fully recover from his whearas Ronaldo is a shadow of his former self. His goalscoring record speaks for itself, last season was his worst ever season yet he got 21 league goals.

I've seen a lot of great players but I have never seen a player run at pace with the ball as well as Ronaldo (before he got injured). He isn't called Il Fenomeno for nothing, this kid had the most natural talent I had ever seen. If he had never got injured I swear we would be arguing about whether Maradona was as good as Ronaldo, not whether Ronaldo is a good as Maradona.

Because of his injury he's had to adapt his game and now he's on of, if not the best finisher in the world. He still has pace and power but he'll never be as good as he was and it's such a shame because he used run riot in almost every game. The thing is, can you name another player that was a two time World Player of the Year at 21?

Ok Ronaldo was good before injury. He used to run with the ball like crazy, but he was not even close to Maradona.. DUDE THIS IS MARADONA we are talking about.. He was way out of line when it came to manners, but as a player he was asbolutely astonishing.
Winning the world player of the year well... If it was the one in 1996 (I am not very positive about my info though) Klinsman (got Germany to win euro 96 and was very successful with the clubs he played with) or Del Piero (won the CL 96, plus very successful season in the serie A and played great for italy) deserves to win the 96 award. Can't really remember, was it Ronaldo who won it that year?
I am not saying that Ronaldo was shit before injury (he is terrible now though). I am saying that he was no Maradona.
Again, he does not have the mentality of being a phenomena. He has a mentality of a 6 years old child for gods sakes.

In 96/97 Ronaldo scored 34 goals in 37 league games for Barca. I think that deserves a bit of recognition as it's basically unheard of for a player to score that many goals. And some of the goals were unreal, taking it past the entire team at times. If you were to watch highlights of Maradona and Ronaldo one after the other you'll probably find that technically they were very similar in ability.

And about Del Piero's come back after injury, well there are many factors influencing it. They include, his will, high spirit, hardwork ..etc but in my opinion the most important ones are That he played for Juventus the greatest club ever, more over that he was a bianconero and he knew that he was a bianconero by heart and that what made him act as a true biaconero.. Act as a true champ :) :agree:

Yeh I know.. But dude. Maradona did that in every match, in every season in the Serie A with Napoli not Milan.. With him and other quality players ofcourse they took Napoli to the top.

Marandona was never a prolific goalscorer, he could take people on but he was a different player. Ronaldo could always finish a move off. :agree:

the problem in comparing these players is that maradona dragged a mediocre argentina side to the world cup and carried a club like napoli to the top while ronaldo has always been surrounded by world class players. to say ronaldo is shit is not on really, yes he is a shadow of his former self but he still scores goals for fun and he does it consistently. even in his prime i dont think i would rate ronnie higher than diego but there is no way he can be considered shit
