Do you guys remember the last time Lapo openned his mouth about Juve. He stated that Juve will buy Cassano this summer. Giraudo replied by saying something like this "Lapo makes me smile, he fills me up with hope that he will finally decide to inverst some money into Juventus. Unless he does so, his comments should be kept for himself. For the past 10 years Juve have not received any donation from the family what so ever. Never the less they won so many trophies".

Lapo has a big mouth. All the things he said never happenned.

I wish his grandfather was alive to kill him. may he rest in peace.

From what I read, Lapo was talking about the financial aspect not the technical aspect of DP. Apparently Juve are not getting back the money they are paying out to DP according to him.

Like I said, even if this is true, these kind of comments should not be make in this moment... theres a time to talk these things, and its when the market is open... in these moments, those comments only hurts the armony of the group.

he said this:

Alessandro Del Piero's future has again been thrown into confusion, after a member of the Agnelli family - the club's financial backers - suggested that he was a luxury they could not afford.

Del Piero is no longer an automatic starter for Juventus, and it was heavily rumoured that the player could be sold on by the club that once considered him their talisman.

President Gianni Agnelli's nephew, Lapo Elkann has now made the broadest hint that the club's hierarchy believe the time has come to offload the Italy international.

"Del Piero costs too much for what he returns," said Elkann to Il Giornale.

"He's a luxury we cannot afford."

Del Piero's team-mates have immediately rallied round the forward, with Brazilian Emerson backing him to prove his critics wrong.

"Del Piero is no luxury," said Emerson.

"He's a part of the team and all the squad have the same value.

"He is not just a player who sits on the bench. He has battled back from injury and is training hard to get back up to match fitness."

Now, Im no Del Piero Lover, he is my fav player yes, but Im not biased in favour of him... BUT, I really think this statement of Lapo is totally out of place and I really stupid comment.

True of false, this comments the only thing that do is create problems inside the team and we don't need that, if you want to make those comments do it on january when the market is open.

I reallly dislike this Lapo fellow, he is sooooooo dumb to talk about soccer, he should lshut up and let the soccer to the Triade...

And what worryes me the most is that this fellow is the one who will take the charge in Juventus when the triade is gone

Luxury or not, such statment should never been said in public, somone most hide this spoiled kid when press come arouned :fero:

most decissive
I am glad someone mentioned this award. I would like to raise a question of discussion about it.

What is a decisive player and how is a player called most decisive. According to my knowledge and conception of the term, it is given to the player who madfe the winning goal (when a game is won by a one goal difference) or the player who equalized when we his team was down with one goal. Is there any other situation where a player is considered decisive? I think not.

SO for now our most decisive player has been Trezeguet this season (goal against Chievo and goal against Brugge)

Here is the question, what if we win a game with two or more goals, then there is no decisive player considered, then who is given the credit for such a game? Or no one is given a credit there? And why? If the team wins 2-0 and two different players scored, who is considered decisive? I think no one.

This is why I consider this title complete Mamothscheisse.

Juve: We can't afford Del Piero Friday 16 September, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus patron Lapo Elkann has again publicly humiliated Alessandro Del Piero, dubbing the captain “an expensive luxury for the team.”

Elkann, the heir to the Agnelli throne, has already run up column inches in the Italian Press with his comments on Del Piero and Bianconeri target Antonio Cassano, but this latest tirade is possibly his worst yet.

“Del Piero costs too much for what he brings to the table,” Elkann was quoted as saying in ‘Il Giornale’. “He is a luxury that we cannot afford any longer.”

The Italian international earns approximately £3m per season and his contract expires in 2008, but the fact that Fabio Capello has left him on the bench for most of his time in charge suggests that he’ll be parting company with the club sooner rather than later.

Elkann is not the only FIAT owner to make such statements, as last week Luca Cordero di Montezemolo pointed out, “I’d prefer Cassano to Del Piero as a testimonial for the new Punto, as he is more likeable.”

This will only add to reports that Del Piero will leave Juve as early as January, with offers from Japan, Arsenal, Manchester City or even Milan.

Emerson has rushed to the defence of his teammate in today’s Press Conference. “I saw Del Piero training well and he has recovered from his injury. He’s important to all of us.”

Meanwhile, there has been a vote of confidence for Manuele Blasi, who has extended his Juve contract by one year. The midfielder, who played as a right-back in the Champions League this week, is tied to the club until June 30 2009.

....

Wow..... this is so stupied... even if em not a VERY big DP fan, i would never say its good what Lapo said to the public.. (even if he's right  )

this is very bad for the team... very nice by Emerson defending him... respect...

and nice to see that the team has confidence in Blasi... our new Rightback :D

To Lapo's defence, he didn't speak directly to the press about it. He was talking to some mayor while showing her the new Fiat Punto, and a journalist of 'Il Giornale' overheard him talk about DP and wrote this news.

So I guess that tomorrow Lapo or someone will deny this news, saying he was misquoted or something.

Meanwhile, Juventus patron Lapo Elkann has sent a letter to newspaper 'Il Giornale' denying he made disparaging comments about Alessandro Del Piero. The heir to the Agnelli business empire was quoted as saying the captain was, "an expensive luxury we can no longer afford."

The comment expressed by Lapo Elkann just reinforce my serious doubts about his capacity to manage this team in the near future, an not only for what it signifies to DP, but for what it signifies for the team:
- a high dose of disloyalty and ridiculization for a player who has been, for good or for bad, the flag of this team for many years.

- Another slap in the face of the triade, trying to point out that he is not agree the way this team is directed and his desire to interfere with them.

- A "perfect approach" to the great mass of Juventini that still consider DP, as our most charismatic player and are uncomfortable already with Capello attitude towards Alex.

- The fantastic timing for the comment, in a moment when the team needs concentraction and unity, seeming like he tries to cause internal doubts and tension inside it.

- A total disrespect to his grandfather desire and will.

It sad to see that the distance in style, class and inteligence between Lapo Elkann an Gianni Agnelli seems incomensurable......
