People are missing the same point that I've been talking about over and over again..
If Ale had in mind that this is his last year then why didn't he mention it since we are less than 30days away from season being over? Why hasn't he put an end to all the Agnelli bashing if Agnelli is spot on? Why he was bitter after Agnelli's statement in the shareholders meeting? I'm yet to see an answer, a logical answer for these questions.
Second, why when Marotta said that Buffon can stay here for as long as he wants he didn't go on saying Del Piero can also stay as long as he wants but sadly he has decided to leave us by the end of the season? Why did he has to say that Del Piero's future isn't the right time to be discussed while Buffon can stay for as long as he wants? Not to mention 5-6 players signing new deals recently.
Del Piero hasn't said that this is going to be his last season, not even once, he has said when he signed his last contract "I've signed my first contract on a blank sheet and I don't mind signing my last one on a blank sheet too" Hence to why the club could at least offer him or show some good intention and gesture to keep him because there's a difference between claiming that this is your last season and saying I'll sign a contract on a blank sheet. And seriously when you put him to sign on an almost blank sheet of paper it's like kindly asking him to get the fvck out of the club.
When Trezeguet and Camoranesi left I believe Del Piero was on their plan too to follow their path but because he's Del Piero they've decided to let him 1 more year in our new stadium.
No one can convince me that Del Piero wont stay for one more year if the club were to show some respect and ask him to play 1 more season with us in CL. No one can convince me that Del Piero doesn't want to play for the last time in CL in our new stadium and hit his 300 goals. No one can convince me that Del Piero doesn't want to complete his 20 years at Juve IF the club really wants him.
Sergio is right when saying this is the heart vs brain, I let my heart make the total conclusion and evaluate the whole thing because I've seen enough of Del Piero to know that he will not refuse to play one more season had the club pushed for him to stay instead of pushing him out.

I think and I'm quite sure that Del Piero felt he's not wanted but he wanted so bad to be part of the new stadium therefore he told Agnelli that he would even sign on a blank sheet, which in diplomatic way it means that I will leave if that's what you want.
So yes, he most probably told him this is his last season but not because he's dying to leave us, it's quite inverse and it's because he feels he's not wanted and he's not appreciated by the new mang. I can bet my life on this.

Would you agree with the general consensus that of all the positions that need strengthening next season, that the attacker position is clearly what is needed the most?
In your opinion, do you think that 1 or 2 strikers are needed?
With that being said, and with Alex way down the pecking order with the current group of strikers currently on the roster, that if, let's say 2 strikers were to come on board next year, with no other strikers leaving, or at worst 1 leaving next year, wouldn't you believe that the chances of him getting playing time next year would be significantly reduced, despite the fact that this club will be playing in three competitions next season?
If it is totally a condition of the heart for you, as you say, then wouldn't it be in your best interests to see him playing significant minutes next season, even if it happens to be for another team?
Let me just add that my heart wants him to stay. That is not even up for debate for me, and my feelings about him. But my heart also tells me tht it would be a downright insult for a player of this magnitude, with everything that he has meant to me as a fan of this club, and for the very fabric of my thoughts when it comes to sport, for him to have such limited opportunities again, I simply couldn't stand to see it.
There are only 4 athletes for me that are always in my conciousness every single day. Every day, I scour the internet to find things about them to read. Three of them are retired. Joe Montana, Roby Baggio, and my favorite athlete of all time, Magic Johnson.
The 4th is Alex. And to be honest, I want to see him play.
Ideally, I want to see him play at juventus, but realistically, I just want to see him play, and play a lot, knowing full well that it will end up being anywhere but Juve.

Personally I think that Ale, like Gigi probably thought he didn't have much to give Juve after the last two season's disasters, so he thought it was for the best that he left.
But I am 100% sure he changed his mind during this season, and wants to stay for next season as well.

It would be heart vs brain if Ale didn't have much to go on and some members wanted him to stay because of his position as the biggest legend of our time. He has a lot to go on, he works perfect as a supersub and would be helpful with CL next season. There is no reason to him go. There is no rush to "move on from Ale". Let's not make the same mistake we made with Trezeguet.

If there are new strikers coming, I can't see where he would fit in. And this is certainly no slight to him, but again, keep in mind that he is not getting any playing time as it si right now.
It could very well end up getting worse next season. You've seen the cries for Alex to play more this season, you can only imagine how awkward it would be next year if/once they add new attackers to the squad.
And I have a real problem with him being a "super-sub". It's beneath him, to be perfectly honest. Personally, I don't want to see that. maybe I will be accused of an all or nothing attitude in regards to this but so be it. If he's going to play, then he needs to play a lot, certainly a lot more than he did this season, and I don't see that happening. I see the opposite.
I see your point of Ale going somewhere he'd play regularly, but just see him in the supersub role, coming on and bringing us so much joy just by scoring a goal. It doesn't have to be a decisive goal like the one against Lazio. It only takes a Del Piero goal to raise our mods from 0 - 10 - or 30 to 1000%. Are you willing to let go of that joy? I sure as hell am not. I would rather cry about Ale playing more, than Ale not being here.
Looking at the way Conte plays from his fromations and tactics I would say we'll need only 1 world class striker. I don't think any of Vucinic, Quag, Matri can offer more than Ale or have more quality. If Conte wants to play the age card then that's something else, to me if Del Piero says he can still play at the highest level then I believe him just like he has shown each time he stepped on the pitch this year.

With regards to that, I think maybe Conte saw something in training that we didn't see, because when Ale came on (although he got little playing time) around Oct-January, he didn't always look so productive, but when you see him coming on now, you can see that he is fresh and unpredictable. But I agree that playing Borriello over him was ridiculous.
PS: Does anyone ( @Alen ) have stats on how much playing time & assist/goals Del Piero got from October - January, February and can we compare it to the last 6-7 matches?

He's going to leave on top either-way because he's Del Piero. He's bigger than this limited little boy Andrea Agnelli and his assistant Marotta. It's the way he's leaving that wont be on top.

Hashim, it's the most difficult thing coming from the bench and adapting specially in Serie A and specially when you're not given enough time. Ale mentioned how difficult it is to come off the bench and always adapt and score. It's not La Liga where you have space to run when you come off the bench and do what you're best at.
As to your 2nd question, I read somewhere 1week ago that Ale has played around 250min[maybe a bit more or less] in his last 4matches including Coppa scoring 3 goals and 1 assist.

Hashim, it's the most difficult thing coming from the bench and adapting specially in Serie A and specially when you're not given enough time. Ale mentioned how difficult it is to come off the bench and always adapt and score. It's not La Liga where you have space to run when you come off the bench and do what you're best at.

It is understandable that he wasn't so productive coming on for 10 and 10 minutes every second match, maybe it's the anti-conspiracy in me not wanting to accept that Ale not playing wasn't for anything else than sporting reasons. But those numbers the last few matches are sex.
