I don't see how Conte and Del Piero are similar. Maybe someone can explain that to me.

Young coach, first year, doing a tremendous job.
Veteran legendary forward, coming towards the end of his career, future is in question on an annual basis because he signs one year deals.

All this will be pie in the sky come the end of the season, because Alex will make the choice, and either scenario will be responded to with criticism of Agnelli because of his earlier faux pas.

I dont have high hopes for a renewal and I've done my part for this season should he go by attending games. In any case, there will be no perfect goodbye, and I honestly cannot imagine a Juve without DP, but should they decide not to renew (a decision I disagree with), I hope to God he gets the scudetto and coppa at the very least.

DP should pull a Zidane really, but a much better version though. Finish with Juve with 2 tittles, go to Euro kick some ass.....then in the final, kick some more ass and win the tittle. And he retires with a Euro, Scudetto and Coppa. He leaves his club and country with tittles.

Unfortunately Zidane failed....

:sergio:

It's about the management not showing any sign/intention of wanting to keep him in the club for the million times.

OK. So a journalist asks Marotta whether there will be a new contract for Conte, the guy who has done an amazing job this season. Marotta says 'no comment'. Now what happens?
He should respond by saying we'll evaluate everything at the end of the season, the coach is doing a great job.

Then again, handling the media has never been Marotta's strongest side since arriving at Juventus.

It's very simple, "We hope to see him here/we hope to see him next season here" [This way you show a sign and a willing to keep Ale and also you prove to the fans that it's not like how they think that he's being kicked out]. None of this has been mentioned and yet they come and tell you what do you know about the management? :wallbang:

That's true, but I don't see how he could talk about evaluating Conte's contract in the circumstances. It's a dead cert he would be offered a new deal, anything else comes off negative and would throw stupid rumours about Tottenham and Bangor City back into the media.

What I don't understand is why people think the situations of people with different positions and roles should be treated the same.

Thing is, till Del Piero himself openly says I want to stay for another year (which he won't say if the mgmt tells him they don't intend to renew his contract) - some people will continue to say that Del Piero himself wanted to leave.

Yeah, you have a point, but let's look away from Conte and say Buffon. "He can stay with us for as long as he wants".

Being a bad guy must be a part of the job, but sometimes Marotta just says the wrong things.

I can't remember but during the build up to agnelli's faux pas, I distinctly remember maybe months prior to that, Ale in interviews mentioning his future is uncertain etc, I don't recall him actually stating he wanted to stay in Juve. I could be wrong. Of course I want him to, but I was more angered that Agnelli announced it and seemed like he had the upper hand when I think Ale should have the right to decide for himself and do whatever he wants

I want him to stay regardless of whether we win anything this year or not. I don't want the perfect goodbye. I want to see him play one more year, even if there's a chance of it being a failure.

Rofl. You say Marotta can't handle the media well but then want him to say "We'll evaluate Conte's situation at the end of the season",after this epic season we'd have so far...da fuck

The contradiction :lol::lol:

Juventus are willing to offer a new contract to boss Antonio Conte, but there are no signs of an Alessandro Del Piero re-think.

“A renewal for Conte is almost automatic,” director general Beppe Marotta stated when asked about the tactician.

“He has a relationship of respect and friendship with the club and President Andrea Agnelli. He is the guarantor of our project. I think an agreement will be reached quickly.”

Conte, a former club captain, moved to Turin in the summer from Siena where he put pen to paper on a two-year agreement.

He arrived at the club as a 4-2-4 man, but his evolving 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 tactics have led the unbeaten Old Lady to the top of the table, as well as the Coppa Italia Final.

While Conte will stay, Marotta refused to open the door for a Del Piero renewal once his contract expires in the summer.

“Del Piero is an example,” the official noted. “There are no words to describe what he can deliver in terms of emotions and performances.

“Champions like Del Piero are rare and it is impossible to immediately find a footballer like him. It takes time to become a champion.

“A new deal? We are not focused on the dynamics of the future, we are concentrating on the present. Right now we want to turn our dreams into reality.”

The club announced last October that Del Piero, now 37, would leave his beloved Old Lady once his deal ends in June.
