That +1 goal difference (The one scored in Serie B) has confused some. To me it's not an own goal it's Del Piero's goal to some it's an own goal. Ale said if some want to count it as an own-goal he wouldn't mind but I'm not. That was his goal even if the ball was deflected.

I remember the confusion about the goal but I don't remember the goal itself. If the ball was going towards the goal before it was deflected then it was a goal by DP according to the rules.

The ball started to curve and it's impossible to know if it was gonna hit the target without being deflected. I can see why there was so much confusion.

Edit: Actually, on 2nd look, I think it wasn't going in so it should be an owngoal.
But I'm not crazy to tell Rab and co. not to count it as a Del Piero goal

The intent doesn't matter in these situations.

There was a situation some years ago with Ronaldinho (vs Napoli I think). He crossed the ball and a Napoli player changed the direction of the cross and scored an owngoal. It was initially registered as an owngoal but after Galliani complained, they changed it to a goal by Dinho. And indeed, according to the rules it was a Ronaldinho goal because, willingly or not, Ronaldinho's cross was actually going towards the goal and if noone touched the ball it was gonna hit the target.

So, the intention doesn't matter. It matters if the ball was going into the goal before being deflected. In the above situation I'm not sure if DP's cross was gonna miss the goal or not, but it looks like it wasn't going in.

Still, it's not 100% clear if it was or not and that's where the confusion comes from.

Officially it was registered as an owngoal and unfortunately we never tried to change it. The official records can be changed. Lavezzi's yellow card this season was officially registered, just to be changed later and he played against us. Same as the Ronaldinho's goal I talked about. Those things aren't set in stone. If Del Piero scores 299 goals for us before he retires, I'm sure that we can ask for that owngoal to be looked at one more time and the federation will probably change the official books and count it as a DP goal.

Anyway IMHO if it's now an own goal it's should be counted as one. When its 299 we fans can send a petiton to review it, though from replay to me it looks like an obvious own goal.

There was another goal which everyone seemed to be confused about. Don't know what it was but I think it was in the first season after Calciopoli. I used to count his goal in the X[+2] fashion but then I decided to free one from the bracket
