Still, my initial point was that Agnelli deserves criticism for both his timing and making a statement that Alex should have been afforded, but not necessarily for 'forcing Del Piero out'. Which to me still seems ridiculous.

He obviously had an intention to send Del Piero a message. And Del Piero didn't like this message which makes me think of Andrea Agnelli the most disgusting thing that has happened to this Juventus since Calciopoli.

Well I don't share your total dislike, as I'm not so wrapped up with Del Piero. Agnelli is currently fighting for the past, present and future of Juventus, which includes many of Del Piero's best years. He's been naive, but remember he is only a young man for his position.

I don't understand the question the way you worded it. But I think no one has to be forced out, this is my point. If Alex made a decision and told it to Agnelli in private then it should have stayed that way. This is what I think happened. If he wants to play abroad (a possibility), then he benefits.

Naive is when you don't know how to take a decision. But when you take one and insist on it then you're clearly stupid and there's a message you're sending in your decision.

He does actually. There is no other all encompassing symbolic aura at the club. With Del Piero gone, he believes he won't have to deal with the baggage of an authority that probably is as big as any other at a club that has been directionless for some time. He has a young coach with big ideas, who perhaps could be overshadowed in the dressing room, and most importantly, he doesn't want his own authority challenged in any way because he knows who the Juventus fans would want to see as president in the not so distant future. I can guaran'damn'tee that AA wouldn't have had the testicular fortitude to make this announcement had Juventus not gotten off to a flying start in the season. It was a sickening opportunist move, when he decided to take the onus off himself and help the media start pressuring Del Piero to sort his future out because it was announced that this was his last season at Juventus, arguably before his time.

Make no mistake about this. Its not about money. Its not about age. It's about power.

He said it with intent JJ. There was no innocence like he claims in that call. AA has been kept out of this seat of power by the Elkanns. We know thats been the case because of his proximity to Moggi. Now, where AA feels he knows what's best for the club, or whether he doesn't, is not what is being debated, but the fact that he wants to retain his seat of power by any means necessary. The only thing that stops him and could possibly be a hindrance, is the only guy bigger than him and Conte, in the eyes of the tifosi.

I was going to say it myself. Buffon has a better chance of coming back to join Nedved in the ranks, but I doubt Ale does. In fact, I won't be surprised if he becomes an ambassador for FiFA or goes on to become a coach.

Why did he not announce it at the beginning of the season? I'm sure he didn't/doesn't intend to leave at the end of this season because if he had, he would have announced it before the season started. He wanted to wait and see what happens. He thought he might find himself good enough to stay one more year, he thought he could get another contract at the end of this season. Agnelli's announcement ruined everything as he sent Ale this message clearly that he can't be a part of this team anymore, no matter what the team and the player's conditions are.

It was politics that kept AA out the longest time. Now at he's finally gotten here, I think it's more of the same for anybody that challenges his figurehead.

I don't even think DP was asked. He was told, almost humiliatingly, via the press that his time was up. That wasn't a question, it was a diktat.
