Star-struck in Dubai

Dubai: There was a maddening rush at the Intercontinental Hotel where the 6th Dubai International Sports Conference was scheduled to be held.
The rush was for the arrival of football's pin-up duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Alessandro del Piero.
Immediately after they reached the venue, everybody rushed in to catch a glimpse of the superstars but the security managed to keep the crowd at bay before whisking them into the VIP area.
Later on, the footballers attended the conference and addressed the audience for nearly an hour taking limited questions ranging from their personal life to their current commitments.

There was lot of focus on the next move of Del Piero who is expected to end his 19-year-old association with his current club Juventus.

"I think Europe is a good stage for me," the 36-year-old Italian legend, who had been expected to hang up his boots at the end of this season, said.
"I would love to play for a few more years and I have not decided to give up. My passion is growing instead of declining. The moment has not arrived yet."
Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo said that while he loved playing in the Spanish League the Premier League was the best. "I prefer the Premier League where I learnt how to discipline myself besides personal skills."
He also dreams of winning the World Cup. "I have a lot of years left in me and I'm sure we can achieve this."
Del Piero, while praising Italy for producing world-class players, said: "Italy has an interesting history of having best players. I was lucky to play with or against them."
He was asked if he would be interested in joining any club in the UAE since he is a close friend of Fabio Cannavaro who is associated with Al Ahli Club.
"I don't know, I'm not sure. But I do follow UAE football more than you might have expected," he said.
