Agnelli needs to buy some personality. And charisma.

Del Piero Quag should start the next game and show them how its done. Vucinic doesn't even deserve the bench right now with the players he's keeping out. Matri is more inspired than him.

He's right. Agnelli has this Del Piero complex because Del Piero's name is much a lot more worth than AA and what he represents.
So now it's a dick-measuring contest between him and Del Piero?

Agnelli will always have more actual control over Juventus than Del Piero. He has no reason to be "afraid of his legacy" or whatever.

People will lynch me for this but I'm sure Agnelli's announcement was not made without Conte being part of the decision ;)
No, there's a good chance of that being true. I feel like Conte wants to be the only figurehead in the dressing room, and right now thats not the case. Buffon, exists as one maybe to a lesser extent, but Del Piero is the commanding presence around. I think this is something Conte was well aware off. Also, it's going to be interesting to see how Antonio uses his captain across the next three games.

Del Piero is Juventus, he represents this team. Agnelli doesn't like it because no one looks up to him like they do for Ale. When you mention Juve you mention Ale. Simple.

I know it, I feel it.

Del Piero's a symbol of Juventus, of course, but I just don't see Agnelli being afraid of/jealous of/angry at him because the fans "don't love him as much."

Makes no sense.

Exactly, it's not as if Agnelli needs the fans' support in particular. Or that they are currently threatening him. Bizarre theory.

It's not jealousy, it's a decision made by the board and the coach (I dare say), they simply don't want him in the team anymore but just like cowards, they have to tell it to the media even without talking about it with the player himself.
