Thank you, I think you expressed it better than I did. I never meant to say he wasn't famous worldwide, but that he's rated much higher locally and by its club fans than people outside that circle. I think it's interesting, I think it has to do with tribal mentality. When people view a player as "theirs" and that grew up with them and stuck with them, then they are going to fawn over and increase his importance and even exaggerate a bit his ability because of that.

I really like the Raul example actually. He's a great player for sure, and for many years a very important part of Madrid but he was never very skilled or the greatest striker in the world. That's not to take away from his accomplishments, which were several, but I can safely say that Madrid fans rate him much, much higher than everyone else, unlike players like Messi, who regardless of who you are a fan of you can't help but be impressed by his skill.
Oh, the harmony.

Love you both.

I
I read clearly. I was bringing up the fact that he listed Ibra as a legend. What exactly has he done at Milan? What has Arshavin done? What has Ronaldo or Kaka done at Real.

He listed those names with the clubs & that's why i brought it up.
Well....he did have some names that clearly don't belong in the term "world class legend" :D
Even if they are indeed world class players (as Ibra clearly is), I don't think that Ibra or Cassano will be remembered as legends.

Arshavin though... :D

I read fine, don't worry about me. The first sentence of your second paragraph is kinda obvious.

So what exactly are the criteria for being a WC legend?

Honestly, honestly, are you having troubles reading? Do you have any sort of mental deficiency? I'll break it down for you again:

1. Dragula says only Juve have a world class legend.
2. I mention OTHER clubs with world class legends.
3. Club legend DOES NOT EQUAL world class legend.

And yes, Ibra is a player of exceptional skill that has won 6 Scudetti, that is enough to be a legend and you have to be, well, you know, challenged if you can't see why Ronaldo or Kaka have that quality.

Clear enough for you?

So you're calling Ibra a legend after 6 matches with Milan?

Exactly. Ibra is a WC player but i don't think there's any milan fan deluded enough to label him a legend at this point in time.

Cassano on the other hand might be. When was the last time Samp clinched CL qualification?:D

The Arshavin one was pure gold.:howler: Fred will lap it up like a porn star.

Lnot to mention Del Piero is not even a world class player at this point in time.
And for the last 7 years too.

We can spin it however we like, but for the last 7 years he hasn't been among the 50 nominated players for "footballer of the year". If that means nothing to some, then you know that the problem is in them, not in me, UEFA, FIFA and the football coaches and players who nominate and vote for the best players.

Not the best player, or the best 3, or best 5, 10, 20. He wasn't even among the best 50 in the world for 7 years running.

I really like Arshavin, what can I say. :)

I think Cassano will be remembered as a great talent that wasted many years of his career but he can still make the jump to legendary (look at Nedved, he joined us at 30 and gave us 5 years of great football). Ibra because of his mercenary and bridge burning attitude probably will hamper is memory at the different clubs, but individually he is still a legend.

Too bad his national team didn't provide the chance for greater honors there, but a guy that won 6 (or was it 7?) Scudetti while carrying the team on his shoulders has proven himself to be a legend on an individual level IMO.

I'm going to stop replying to posts that are just plain trolling like this one. You are either that, refuse to understand what's being said or you are mentally challenged and can't understand what I wrote.

I prefer to think it's trolling.

You are being absolutely thick here. I see why you're so popular around the forum.

Answer my questions.

What has Ibra done at milan to be labeled a legend?

What have Ronaldo & Kaka done for Real? They really have been in scintillating form for Real, haven't they?

What the fuck has Arshavin done? You could have at least made the effort to bring up plausible names like Fabregas for Arsenal.

I'm not delusional enough to think that Ale has been a top 5 or top 10 player. But if they really thought that he wasn't a top 50 footballer in 2008 after his performance in Serie A during the spring and Champions League in autumn, then I don't know what to say.

Is the fact that I don't praise Del Piero as much as you do hamper your reasoning or your reading skills?

World class legend = very, very good player.
Club legend = very, very good player that stuck with one team.

Ok, in simple terms, a guy said that only Juve has a world class legend in their team. I think "no, that's stupid, there are other players that are really, really good in other teams, legends or potential legends if you will, and Juve doesn't have the only one" and hence I reply with examples of that.

Go to wikipedia, look at Ibra's page and look at how much he has won (not to mention how much Inter relied on him to win). He's a world class player (and IMO a legend) and now he plays with Milan, therefore Milan has a world class legend in their team. It's not like Ronaldo's and Kaka's accomplishments vanished when they switched to Madrid.

I already mentioned including Arshavin is a stretch and was wrong, but keep arguing with yoursfelf by all means.

Ok, you made your point. Appreciated.

Could you please stop posting here now :D
