Taking Del Pieros spot? What spot exactly? Del Piero striker. Diego midfielder. No matches found.
Don't be thick. Diego was being used as a SS ahead of Del Piero in a 442, which is the system Del Neri will be using all year. That meant less playing time for our hero.

Well it's not my problem that Del Neri is a shithead and uses a player without a decent shooting ability as a SS. Diego played for years in a 442 as the top of the diamond midfield which could be easily done here.
It seems to be one of these weird Italian mentalities that there can't be more than one creative player existing at a time.

Del Neri only knows a flat 4-4-2. The guy knows one formation ffs..

Fair enough, I agree with you mate. I'm still fucking pissed Diego is gone though, and I would love to know the reasons why Marotta let him go.

I do believe him (not just him, any other superstar) gets involved with their site but I don't believe it's coming from them.

Seriously, I never knew a player who could write such. If it's his then well done. I don't believe he can write better stuff than most of the journalists, though.
I do believe him. I don't know if you speak Italian, so I'm going to assume you don't. If you see an interview with Del Piero in Italian, the guy comes across as very very eloquent. He's actually a pretty intelligent fellow.

I don't speak Italian but from couple of my Italian friends I've already understood that he's an intelligent man who speaks really well to Media/Press.

Player is a human no? I know many players who graduated studying Media, Law or a Doctor and are very intelligent. Being a player doesn't mean you can't write properly.

Caro David,

Quante formazioni in questi anni finivano così: Del Piero e Trezeguet, Trezeguet e Del Piero.

I already commented on that goal. It was fantastic no doubt, it's nice to see but I don't think he'll have that sort of consistency or space in regular Serie A games, not to mention his several problems he had physically last year such as reduced pace, getting wrestled off the ball so much and null counter attacks.

He IS old so what are we going to when he's not playing due to injury or playing like shit due to being tired? I'm willing to bet we're going to be placing Quag alongside him this year, so a forward line of Martinez Quag is not exactly mouth watering.
Noone is saying that Del Piero is a 20 years old. Noone is saying that Del Piero can play 90 min every single game of the season. And noone is saying that we don't need someone to play SS in rotation with Del Piero.

Never the less...

Just for anyone who doubts Del Piero as a player, captain, Juventino, a legend and one of the best footballers!!

You just have to look at their goal celebrations to realize the love and respect they have for each other.

The english translation, I understood most of the gist of it in italian, but assumed the parts I didnt understand was literarly masterpieces since Dusan was so adamant its too good to be a player. But yeah, not really:

Dear David,

The moment has come to say goodbye. I have lost count of the seasons we have played together, or of the goals we scored. Quite obviously, we are the strike duo who has scored the most in the history of Juventus, more than John Charles and Omar Sivori -two incredible champions – and this you know well is a great pride for both of us.

How many formations in this year finished this way? Del Piero-Trezeguet, Trezeguet-Del Piero. Many victories, many disappointments (fortunately, they can never take the satisfactions from us!) so many hugs, there is no other player who I have played with more.

17 goals averaged a season, like your shirt number. This says enough for the bomber you are. But for me who played by your side, there is no need for numbers. It was an honor to play as as the strike partner with one of the best strikers in the world, ever.

Now our roads have divided, in calcio, it happens. I will salute you in the locker room, but I wanted to do it also publicly. Good luck for your new adventure. We will have so many wonderful memories to share, the next time we see each other.

Arrivederci, David.
