Del Piero always wants to play and sometimes its a problem and could be a problem next season.

EVERY player must want to play, otherwise, I won't want him in the team. Where did Ciro say that Ale didn't allow Ciro to bench him?

By being a 'problem', he probably means that there will be minimal support from fans and members of the board if Del Piero is dropped. Being the clubs greatest ever player, he's right, if any match is lost without the captain on the field then people will give him a lot of criticism for not starting him.

And their friendship got in the way as well I'd think.

"The problem is if a player doesn't want to play. A player must do everything - obviously only on the pitch - to be a starter," Del Piero said.

"But I never asked anyone to start regularly. I only asked to be looked at without prejudice and that I am treated equally with the others.

"If a player deserves to play, whether he be 18 or 36, he should play, because the best players should be on the pitch.

"The fundamental thing is that the team wins. I have always behaved correctly in the dressing room. For my part, there has always been maximum openness and the utmost desire to do well."

Ferrara also called the players "donkeys" after they continued to slide in the second half of the season under his replacement Alberto Zaccheroni, finishing seventh in Serie A.

"I believe that that interview was done at a particularly emotional moment," Del Piero added.

"I am not saying that to justify Ferrara's comments, but I believe it was like that. Certainly none of us at Juventus feel like donkeys."

You know damn well what he meant by saying what he said.

Even Del Piero was dodging that by saying that every players wants to play. Ciro's point was clear - it wasn't easy to bench him.

And if it was any other player he would mention it, but it was only Del Piero from what I read.
Oh give me a break, he benched him a lot, not to mention that Ale was injured till December. Ciro talked like a total loser in this interview, blame it all on the players while it's clear that he sucks as a coach. DP was one of our best players last season (it's hard to say best about that season, but you know, less bad), clearly not our problem. What a stupid excuse by Ciro.

You wouldn't have asked that if it was Amauri.
But yes, every player wants to play. Every player must want to play. The problem exactly occurs when a player doesn't want to play. Ciro benched Ale many times, it must have been hard for him because fans always wanted him to start the games but you didn't say that. You said Ale didn't allow getting benched which is wrong and unfair. You need to be careful while choosing a set of words.

In your opinion, because you don't have a proof that I'm wrong.

He said Del Piero always wants to play and sometimes its a problem. That means he was actually sharing a couple of words with Ciro when being benched. Or maybe not, I see it that way.

It was clear. It wasn't easy for Ciro to bench Ale, it was a problem according to what he said. It might be a problem when fans are not approved of your decision but in no way would I accept that Ale has a word into arranging the first eleven. This is what you imply by saying that he didn't allow Ciro to bench him.

Why didn't Ciro mention it then? He went that far to claim that Ale was a problem and that he always wanted to play, why didn't he say that? Why did have to give hints instead of being more clear? You wouldn't have had to read much into what he said then. I see his statement as it is. Benching Ale was a problem for him, okay, that is right but what you say is wrong and unfair.

Stats:

November 22, 2009: Juventus 1-0 Udinese
Ale's first match of the season. He came in for Giovinco on the 52 minute.

November 29, 2009: Cagliari 2-0 Juventus
In 1-0 situation, on the 61 mintues, DP instead of Marchisio.

December 5, 2009: Juventus 2-1 Inter
DP start the match and played 71 mintues.

December 12, 2009: Bari 3-1 Juventus
DP didn't play at all.

December 20, 2009: Juve 1-2 Catania
70 minute: Ale in, Amauri out.

January 6, 2010: Parma- Juve 1-2
Ale didn't play at all.

January 10, 2010: Juventus 0-3 Milan
DP instead of Sali on the 60 mintue.

January 17, 2010: Chievo 1-0 Juve
With only Ale and Paolucci available (injuries and bans) we started them both and they both played 90 mintues (Ciro Immobile entered the match on the 83 minute).

January 23, 2010: Juve 1-2 Roma
Ale started the match and scored a wonderful goal. He got subbed by Manninger on the 84 mintue (1-1 situation) after we lost Gigi.

That was Ciro's last Serie a match as Juve coach.

So, for conclusion: 9 Serie a matches- in 2 of them Ale didn't play at all. He started another three (one of them because Ciro had no other players, we played fucking Paolucci as a starter). In the first one we won vs. Inter, in the last one He scored and we lost vs. Roma. In the 4 matches rest he played as a subbed, 117 mintues combined- 29.25 mintues per match.

2- didn't play at all, 4- as a sub (29.25 mintues per match), 3- as a starter (90 mintues vs Chievo, 84 vs. Roma and a goal, 70 vs. Inter and a win).

BTW, on his last match as Juve coach, we lost 2-1 vs. Inter in the Coppa Italia, Ale didn't play. On the previous stage we won Napoli 3-0, Ale played and scored a brace.

I could swear that there were at least 2 other matches, in some other competition.

Champions league:

Bordeaux 2-0 Juve:

He started, again cause we had no other forwards available, and played for 68 minutes. Then Immobile (the only forward on the bench) replace him.

Juve 1-4 Bayern:

Start alongside Trezeguet and got subbed by Poulsen (!!) on the halftime in 1-1 situation.
