If that's the case, then the players are just as much at fault as Ferrara.

I remember that press conference. It's not like Ciro called his mother a whore or something.
:agree: everyone is to blame for last season embarrassment. Players, coach, and "specially" the management. Blaming everything on Ferrara alone is just :andyandbarcelona:

He didn't really hit back though. You could even say he defended Ciro as things could have gotten far more ugly than this.

For what it's worth: I do think Ferrara, at the time, was not equipped to deal with Del Piero. Not even because of Del Piero's character, but because of his name.
And I think that was the main reason why he failed.

About the hitting back part: true, the title was misleading, but the fact of the matter is, that I prefer when the players focus on their performances, rather than their ex coach's media rants. No matter how bad our coaches were, the players, on numerous occasions, were terrible individually (Felipe Melo wink-wink), and therefore should accept some responsibility for the last season.

16.07.2010 IN CONFERENZA

Dalla conferenza di oggi a Pinzolo…

L’OBIETTIVO

Zach's latest interview said that, Del Piero was one of the few players that was listening to his instructions and applying them on the field. And that he is truly a professional player that adds a lot not only on the pitch but in a dressing room too.

I'm sorry to hear all this BS from Ciro. If he wants to find a scapegoat for this then Del Piero shouldn't be the one. Yes, he's untouchable when it comes to disrespecting him.

Ale's reply is full of class, manly act, and professionalism on top.

I don't think that Ciro dissed Del Piero as much as everyone thinks. All he said is that he always wants to play and because he is a friend of Ciro's it becomes a problem.
He was right to be offended by the players who praised Zac, like Ciro was completely useless in comparison and when the team began doing even worse they were evidently made to look pretty stupid.
The unproffesional thing is that both managers leaked private matters to the media.

ADP offers Diego solution

Alessandro Del Piero has told Gigi Del Neri that he can play in the same side as Diego, despite the Juventus Coach suggesting otherwise.

Diego has struggled in Turin since signing from Werder Bremen last summer and the new Bianconeri gaffer believes it will difficult to play both the Brazilian and Del Piero in the same system.

However, the Juventus legend feels his boss should give them a chance before jumping to conclusions.

Obviously Del Neri thinks we cover the same spot on the pitch,” said Del Piero.

But during the season he will be able to reconsider his opinion and perhaps find different solutions.

Diego and I are not against each other, we are both focused on doing well for the team.

“I think the Coach felt he had to comment on our situation and I don't think there is much more to say about this at moment.

Del Piero is clearly hoping Juventus will improve on last season, when they failed to qualify for Champions League football.

We don't really have a target for the next campaign,” noted the Bianconeri captain.

Our hope is to finish the season proud of our achievements. We must regain our confidence.

“I really hope Del Neri is the right man for us. He has done a lot in the past and is delighted to be at Juve.”

A team can carry, at most, just one player...A starting XI, I mean. The most commonly in need of being carried players are the flair merchants, the magicians, the players whose game is primarily about creativity, not work or industry. Both DP and Diego fall into this category, of players, who often, for large parts of a game, need to be carried by the rest of the XI. TWO is too much...

As Danny Blanchflower (I think) said, it's the bad players who are a luxury, not the good ones.
