Yes, lets give Del Piero a high rating because he looked sad and showed that he cares.
He was terrible yesterday, just like most of our players, excluding Manninger, and maybe Canna and Melo. Even 5.00 will be too much for the way he played. He never thought about passing, couldn't keep the ball and tried to dribble through 3 players all the time, which didn't work at all. Solid 15 minutes followed by disastrous 50-60 minutes. Rightfully subbed.
Being sad and playing out of position isn't a reason to give him a passing rating. If yesterday's match was an exam, he'd have failed badly.
Boohoo!

Who passed?

Del Piero shouldn't start unless we play 4312 with Giovinco, Candreva, Camoranesi or 3 man defence with the same players. If Del Piero is the one who is involved in every build-up, we are playing like a senior team, super-slow with rare flashes of brilliance.

i'm sick of 4-3-1-2 pitbull....i want a classic 4-4-2 with a real cm that knows how to pass..to creeate sth alongside momo/melo...2 real attacking wingers like camo used to be for us...and dp with i donno..someone in front.

442 with two attacking wingers (Camoranesi and Gio obviously) and passing cm (Candreva?) is pretty much the same 4312 we used to play with Nedved. :)

Del Piero did not have the best of games, yes that is correct. But I do ask you to go watch the game again and see every time Del Piero was going for the dribble is because he was left alone without any support from any of the players. In the first half when Amauri and Camo were running abit he gave them a few nice and creative passes. But in the second half all of our players surrendered to Udinese's marking. No movement what so ever. Del Piero was not tired. And I totally disagree with subbing him out. He should have stayed in and the sub should've have been Giovenco for one of the DM/CMs. The following sub would have been Candreva for Camo if Mauro did not improve. But pulling out the only player who was moving in the field and bring in a player that cannot create (a finisher). When Seba came in the team started to move abit but it was too late. And Candreva to come in the last second of the game?? WTF???
Even during the past season, Del Piero used to save our asses but at least he had a team that moved. Marcchionni on the right side used to run like crazy, Nedved and Seba on the left did the same too. FFS even Molinaro used give some side runs. But this team, is simply not moving at all. We managed to win early in the season when we had the element of surprise (new formation new players) but once that was out everyone saw us as the least working players on the field. Its not all players faults, if the coached benched the players that don't run and rewarded hardworks or at least told the players to move better we wouldn't have been in this situation to start with.

We should play the simple 4-4-2. With a midfield consisting of Candreva or Camo on the right, Seba on the left, Melo or Sissoko as DM, and Marchisio as CM. With Del Piero and one of Tez/Iaq/Amauri up front. When Diego is fit again, he can rotate with Del Piero for the SS position OR he could be tried on the wing.

But fielding 3 DM 1 AM 1 SS when you want to win is just not creative at all. When DP came out it became 3 DM 1 AM.

Blame Del Piero all you want, but what was ask from him to do was something impossible.

One more thing, same applies for Diego. He was asked to do what is impossible. Anyone who plays football knows that the only way for a player to pass the ball to you if that you AT LEAST run to create space. Even if we had Zidane at his prime if players do not move he won't be able to pass the ball and will try to dribble.

this video is just an example. In all 5 goals, the assist was made because the recipient was making the first move. This is our problem. We don't make that initial move. Players like Diego and Del Piero will never be able to pass the ball if the recipient doesn't move.

Just look at the last goal (the PK) Del Piero made the initial move before Marchisio passed the ball to him. Same goes to the second goal Del Piero had the ball Diego made a small move clearing himself from the offside and from the marking so Del Piero passed the ball to him Del Piero ran in creating space for a Diego backheel (pass) which ended with a goal.

But when Del Piero or Diego (or any other player in the team for that matter) has the ball and looks ahead he doesn't see any movement, so the only option becomes dribbling in hope for an open space. Thats why we lack creativity and thats why we don't score and thats why we concede as well.

Aaaaaaaah, how Del Piero plays!!!

Maurizio Mosca died this morning in Pavia at the age of 70. Yesterday he wrote his last article on his blog. I'll never forget him for not being boring, for his passion for football and for the appraisal he gave me, that was expressed in the ear-worm...

Aaaaaaaaaaaah, how Del Piero plays!!!

04.04.2010 HAPPY EASTER
Dear friends,
After the yesterday match against Udine, all the members of Juventus Club are in news blackout. But as it has nothing to do with football I just wanted to wish you all Happy Easter!
