Why the hell couldn't Del Piero and Diego play together though? Diego can play with 3 other attacking players fine, but when it's Del Piero he can't all of a sudden?

Rubbish.

Del Piero had been somewhat of our playmaker in recent years, now that is Diego's role. So in that respect there might be some difficulties.

Should be able to work though.

it will work, IMO it will be stupendous...now Ale can concentrate on being more of a FW than a playmaker, and play closer to the opposition penalty box and the Del Piero Zone...I am expecting him to be devastating.

But a question, is not supposed that for a 4-2-3-1 formation is better to have tall strikers in case of headers and so on?.
How you think del piero will fare in this role of lone striker?.

IMO, given the characteristics of the 3 guys behind him, the game should be heavily oriented thru the middle, because headers and crosses with Del Piero is almost to go against the norm with him. Im not saying he is useless in the air, but is not his forte.

We are not sacrificing much with this?. Thats the only thing that worries me because we depend a lot on crosses and long balls, well that was in the past but still those are an important aspects of our game.

simple...we will not play 4-2-3-1 when Ale is back...we go back to the 4-3-1-2 like this:

Buffon

Cathereth - Traitor - Chiellini -Grosso

Melo

Camo - Sissoko

Diego

Trezeguet - Del Piero (c)

I expected this somehow. and we will hear even more stuff. Personally, I see that they can perfectly play. One as a pure playmaker(taking the pressure of Dp a bit) the other as a pure 2nd striker (playing some magic).

We can't play 4-2-3-1 with Ale in the team.
