Del Piero 'starving' for success
Alessandro Del Piero won’t worry about Inter, as he feels Juventus need to be “starving” for success above all else.
The Bianconeri have closed the gap at the top of the table to four points and are ready to welcome their captain back from a long injury lay-off.
“President Jean Claude Blanc is right when he says we need to be starving for success. That is absolutely the right term and it’s very important,” said Del Piero.
“We will take the good points, and there have been many, as well as trying to whittle down the defects and finding consistency. That is what makes the difference.
“We mustn’t focus on Inter now, it is not the right time and it would be counter-productive. We should take our own path and concentrate on each step.”
Many are already looking ahead to the weekend of December 6, when Inter and Juventus go head-to-head in Turin.
“Everything is not decided in one match and even if we do well against Inter, failure to maintain that standard in the other games would make it irrelevant.”
At the start of the season it was hoped Juve would field Del Piero along with summer signing Diego, but due to injuries for both parties the fans haven’t really seen this line-up yet.
“I am in good shape, I’m doing the full training schedule and will continue doing so for the next two weeks so I can be ready for the Coach on November 22.
“Of course I’m looking forward to playing with Diego, but more than anything else I’m curious to play at all, seeing as so far I’ve barely been on the field. I really can’t wait to get out there.
“Competition for places is healthy, [Coach Ciro] Ferrara makes his decisions and that’s how it should be.
“We players try to make it difficult for him by being ready for as many games as possible, which means going on in the Champions League and Coppa Italia.”
