Currently, I am watching the PK against Chelsea over and over again. What a PK... The execution was out of this world..

LOL the look at Cech's face when he saw that we were awarded a PK LMAO. He knew he would be scarred for life.

But the Free Kick that brought the PK was very well shot. It was going to no-man's land.

It looks like I may have provoked ZAF to restate DP's whole history in the national team.

I've always been very sympathetic to the arguments made in his favor, but in fairness the critics have a point. He's played in more tournaments than most players and he's never been clinical.
you're right, but the NT coaches are also at blame for that...nobody after Cesare Maldini trusted Ale as the main player for the Azzurri...by the time Euro 2000 had come along, it was all about Francesco Totti....even Trapattoni only played the magical 3 (Bobo, Ale and Totti) due to media pressure...it still pains me to think if only just ONE coach had entrusted Ale with the role of creative force/support striker, how very different Ale's performances for Italy would have been...even in his severely reduced appearances, Ale has scored some absolutely crucial goals for the NT

Oh I couldn't agree more. It was always agonizing to me how he was pushed around as a substitute for everyone. First it was Baggio in 98 even though he was all set to be the main man. Then it was Totti in 2000, despite DP playing great in that tournament. Then he was a reserve in 02, again a reserve in 04, reserve in 06 and tbh I don't even remember what the heck happened in 08.

See that's the ironical thing. He was called up to every tournament, but never in earnest. Maybe if he'd only played 2 or 3 of them he'd actually be remembered for being a key player. Instead he's the Ciro Ferrara of the Azzurri.

this is the one time when Ale should have shed his humble nature...I wish he had been more demanding and up front with his coaches/media/the fans about his treatment in the NT

I will be supporting them whether Ale is there or not. Of course I hope he makes it, and Cassano too (as I believe him to be the enigmatic spark the Azzurri need).

I hope Egypt make it too, but it looks like those bloody Algerians are in control of our world cup qualification group now :moan:  :sigh: Why are always thwarted by those annoying irritating North Africans? (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia)

Predictions for Semi Final Line-up @ WC 2010:

Spain
Italy
Brazil
Argentina
