Hi there, I'm quite new here but I've been reading quietly for some time now :). My love to this club started in 1995 with young Ale having great impact (besides those pretty Danone/Sony shirts :agree: ), so I found it a good topic to start.
I can't imagine Juve without Del Piero, but I'm sure he'll be around. Don't know if he's thinking about coaching, I hope not, because he's too smooth for the job and has too much respect to lose. I predict a 2-3 years holiday after quitting football, and he'll be back to do some representative job.
All I hope for is at least 2 more seasons for him and I don't want to see him in any other shirt. Just let him finish the legend right where it had started. If he's able to give us as much as Baggio in his Brescia times, then I don't mind him blocking some youngsters space and having a huge salary until the end, he just deserve this. It's up to him to put away his pride and accept a backup role, because after all I said, I don't see him as a starter anymore  .
LOL at ur avator

Del Piero in the cold
Thursday 14 May, 2009

Alessandro Del Piero is being frozen out by Juventus, who appear reluctant to renew his contract, according to Tuttosport.

The 34-year-old, who is a legend in Turin, started on the bench against Milan and wants a 'recognised role'.

Del Piero has a contract with Juventus until the end of next season, but recent events at the club suggest it will not be extended.

Juventus are close to signing Diego, a 24-year-old Brazil international who plays in a very similar role to Del Piero.

Vincenzo Iaquinta and Amauri have also moved ahead of Del Piero in the Juventus pecking order, making first team opportunities hard to come by.

The Bianconeri are looking to move in a new direction, cutting costs and prioritising youth development.

Del Piero has not made his discomfort public and, as a consummate professional, continues to train to the best of his ability.

At a golf tournament earlier this week, he said: “I don't want to comment on the Juve situation… I won't say anything. It's not the place.”

The World Cup winner made his 600th appearance for Juventus as a second half substitute against Milan on Sunday.

He has won 15 major honours in 16 years with the Bianconeri and is widely regarded as one of the club's best ever players.

just to disect the C4 article

The 34-year-old, who is a legend in Turin, started on the bench against Milan and wants a 'recognised role'.
i no it's a WC year next year and he's an idle, but i think he really does need to accept that everntually he has to go and should face the fact that he does not command a starting shirt anymore.

I know the DP brigade will come to say how he has proven doubters wrong time and time again (and i hope he does)...but aren't these same doubters the one's who week in week out lament the absece of gio? (yes i know they can play together) but when this is added to Diego's immenent arrival, it would be a shame to see him continuously holding back the younger players development because he says so. I would hate to see him turned into the "this season Nedved of the furture" or even worse the 2nd coming of Raul and who knows how long a young gio is willing to be contented with 8/9 starts a year? (hopefully that number imporves next year with a new man incharge)

Vincenzo Iaquinta and Amauri have also moved ahead of Del Piero in the Juventus pecking order, making first team opportunities hard to come by.
This has been a combinations of multiple factors including his form and inexcusable ball hogging at times, the coaches crazy decisions and the form of IQ earlier this year til recently. Amauri is Amauri...he offers pretty much the combined package of our other 3 strikers (except DP's freekicks :juventus:)

The Bianconeri are looking to move in a new direction, cutting costs and prioritising youth development.
i know it's the opinion of the author, but this was our much touted policy after our grand return to serie A. But for some reason, i still can't comprehend how we can claim to have a youth policy when our brightest star has his own customised recliner (asthetically suited to his ass, specially ordered by 1 Mr. C. Ranieri) in the dugout.

And i do agree that if ale is goin to be a part of the plan for the next 3/4 years then i think he should have some sort of gradual salary deduction inline with his appreances.

all that said.....what a legend....always a class act :touched:
----------------------------------------------

I am not against alex & i for one will shed a tear when that #10 is donned for teh last time (hopefully in the new stadium), but we have to be realistic as as much as he is a legened and the law around here both we as fans and himself as a player/fan needs to realise that juventus> ale, not juve = ale.

now forza ale, forza juve & let's get those papers drawn up and signed already!!

P.S. welcome Barthota

Yes..writing about the same yesterday and today Tuttosport.

Seems to me, that the situation Del Piero and Trezeguet will change, when the club leaves Ranieri. Trainer game footballers who likes - rather than who are in the best form.

By last weeks, Del Piero played, only because, that Amauri was injured.
Trezeguet has not played, because it does not like Ranieri, probably he leave Juve after this season.

I think that the extension of the Del Piero's contract, a matter of one signature and one day. Fans kill Secco, Blanc and Gigli, if Del Piero had to leave :p

i was sitting in the pub watching it here in Ireland and when he scored i jumped off of my stool and let a big roar out of me. Everyone was looking at me going why the fuck does he care so much about an Italy and Germany match and why does he cheer so much for the 2nd goal and not even open his mouth when Italy got the first :D
I was watching that game in my hotel room while I was in the US and when DP scored I was so excited I jumped up from the bed I was sitting on and I actually hit my head on the sprinkler which was in the ceiling. I think I shed blood a little too, the hit was pretty bad...so I guess those kind of things happen in real life too and not only in comic books. :D But I was just so happy for Ale and Italy...

Gigli also added "I'm an idiot if I don't renew Del Piero's contract because fact is he is much more important than any of us here and I better renew his contract...I better"

no one said that ale is old when he conquered the bernabeu...juve must renew his contract, and yes, his role must be a key player role and a starter. maybe this season he's not playing well as last year, but still, he's our leading scorer. next year is a world cup year, and ale has a target: last WC with the azzurri. man, i can't wait to see what he's going to do to get his place in lippi's sqaud...

forza capitano! forza capocannoniere season!!!
