When Lippi announced his team for the qualifiers against Montenegro & Ireland there was no Del Piero.......and there wasn't much fuss about that....it was quite depressing to say the least....I was really hoping he would have been called especially since players like Toni, Camo, Aquilani & Perotta were injured. It makes me wonder if he will ever have a shot with the Azzurri again....WC2010 would have been his last international tournament.....:frown: :scared: :stress: :sob: :broken:

what do you guys think? Will he ever have another chance?

There wasn't fuss about it because I think Lippi has discussed this the last time. He said he wants to try new faces because he knows what Del Piero is capable of after training him for so long and therefore he wants to try new faces for now before the big matches.

Still, I feel bitter with his choices and for leaving our man out.

he most certainly will...let Lippi tinker and experiment with the Azzurri for now...but the bottom line is that Ale is in the form of his life over the past couple of seasons and is still a factor on the international stage

Sorry if this is a repost.... But just came across this now. has anyone else heard of this nonsense?

Del Piero to Red Bulls?

Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero is being lined up for a move to the New York Red Bulls. MLS chiefs see Del Piero as the ideal name to energize the soccer market in New York and are monitoring his situation closely. The Juve captain has made no secret of his desire to test himself abroad before he retires and his entourage has already had positive contact with FIFA officials about the strength of American soccer. Del Piero has been in stunning form this season, which will only strengthen his marketing power in the States.

I don't think he will ever think of leaving Juventus. I think there is a huge project and role at Juventus waiting for him in the future.
