Del Piero: «Atmosphere is fundamental»
One day to go for the big match. Two weeks after the match at Stamford Bridge, Juventus and Chelsea are about to meet again. This time at the Olimpico which is sold out and which like never before will have to be the 12th player on the field in order to try and get through to the next round of the Champions League.
All of Juventus is sure of this. It was the duty of Claudio Ranieri and Alessandro Del Piero, the protagonists of the press conference to act as spokesmen and call on the supporters. Here are the words of the captain: «We all know what happened in the last few years. The consequences were paid by us players, all those who work here and by the supporters and this should give us more energy to use during the match. This match against Chelsea awaited by all and to win we will need our fans. The atmosphere will be fundamental».
Less then 15 days after the words of the bianconeri are the same as those after the match in London. «The Champions League matches are hard regardless of the opponent – continued Del Piero – but this does not mean we will not succeed in our task. The result of the first leg is negative but not too heavy and we know that to go through we will have to score and win. To do this we will have to playa perfect match adopting those aspects which go beyond technique and tactics and therefore by putting our heart in it, and the will to win and triumph».
The best Juve possible will be necessary and even a bit more, in an attempt to repeat the performances against Real Madrid, especially the first leg which just like today was played and won notwithstanding the many absentees. Del Piero, who opened the score with a great goal believes in the possibility of repeating that performance. «There are many things in common with that match and therefore even this time the team-spirit will be crucial as well as the support by our fans. This time we are playing at home and I repeat the atmosphere will be fundamental».
