agreed, DP is a phenomenon, there is nobody like him and there will never be again. You get players that come and go that are pretty much the same but DP like all other greats is truely unique.

“I remember every celebration, every embrace. So with this 250th I wish to embrace everyone who celebrated alongside me, both on the field and thousands of kilometres away.
Look Cigdem, he means me. And you :touched:

“Thank you above all to those who would have been by my side even if I had not reached 250, but instead stopped scoring after that first.
Here he means me. And Rab :D

In what way do you respect him?
I guess it's the same way as you can respect any football player
Why would one respect Maldini more than, lets say, Costacurta ?
There are two issues here. One is a player's greatness and one is his attitude (on/off the pitch). Costacurta is far from Maldini in terms of greatness so I easily close his case.

There are many great players yes, but how on earth I could respect Totti (while I'm not a Roma fan)? What about Cris Ronaldo, Pippo Inzaghi, Ibra and many many other 'great' players? They lack something in their manner, in their attitude. This is why I have respect for Maldini. He is great (yea, maybe a bit over-rated) yet he's not arrogant, yet he doesn't act prickly.

Now, this guy deserves to be respected by everyone.
All the sacrifices he made, all the times he made everyone eat their words, "surviving" a horror injury and still reaching the top, the loyality, the charisma.....

I know you like them both Rab, and i know i'm a little biased, but Maldini has nothing on Del Piero.
Now this doesn't help you Alen since there wasn't anyone who had a thing on Ale last time I checked :D
