I know he got the lowest raanking of all Italian players according to some sites. But If you really look at the game, there wasn't much he can do.

1- Perrotta isn't any creative player and I've said it even before the game, If Cassano starts alongside Ale they'll both perform well because they'll both help each others. Just like Pavel and Ale playing together with Juve.

2- The system/tactics that were played was depending only on crosses....If we're going to judge Ale by not heading the ball a single time, then yes he was the worst because thats not him. He's no Koller, Toni, Crouch to take on these balls. Whenever the ball was played on the ground he was involved every single time of it.

3- Camoranesi again was also pushing backwards, just like the Holland game. Not to also forget Perrotta's terrible position and work. This left Ale alone against 5defenders. Not even Maradona could have done something. He was soo Isolated.
I agree with everything and i blame Donadoni for all these things.
He was planning to use tactics that he knew won't suit Del Piero and yet he wanted to please the public by playing Del Piero. Either play the football that will suit your best and most in form player or don't play him at all.
I felt really bad when Donadoni was taking Del Piero off. I'm a grown man and it's childish to feel that way about a football player but i couldn't help myself being mad that people will again say that Ale is done and that he's a choker on big tournaments.
Actually, i spent most of my time yesterday arguing with these people (Normally, i didn't admit to them that he was bad. I argued that he was solid and did ok):D

It wasnt dps fault we know what he can do, the system didnt suit him and we knew this all along.

I love dp and I hate to see him benched, but if he plays with the same system hes better as an impact player.

The day when dp plays to his full potential for the azzuri is when the likes of spaletti or pradenly coach italia.

I'm sorry but he collapsed under the pressure once again. He's not up to it when it comes to Italy I'm afraid. It sucks, because he really does deserve to be Italy's hero this time.

however, he did do better than di Natale did the other night. Cassano was awesome. Juve need to get him. He may be a cry baby and problem-child, but man is he good!

I don't think Cassano was better than del piero, all what he did was cross the ball too high to be grabbed by any froward. If Del Piero was THAT bad and was not doing anything as some claim how do you explain the collapse the Azzuri had after the substitution. At least while DP was on the field Italy was managing to hold the ball in the midfield properly. Not only that 2 or 3 of Romania's defenders were always with Del Piero which gave space for Toni and the fullbacks to play as they pleased. Del Piero doesn't need to touch the ball to be effective on the field.

Just play Del Piero in his normal fucking position and you'll get the best out of him. As simple as that. Play the right formation with Del Piero in his normal position and there you go.

Cassano, Di Natale plus Quaggy don't have half of Dp's impact. It's all about playing the right formation.
