Del Piero Celebrates 33rd Birthday

The Golden Boy, who signed for the Bianconeri in 1993, has since gone on to make more than 500 appearances and is seen as a symbol of the club.

The official Juventus website offered their congratulations to Del Piero with the following message:

Everybody at Juventus is ready to live a special day. On Friday November 9, Alessandro Del Piero celebrates his 33rd birthday.

This birthday comes at an extremely positive moment for the Captain. In his private life, as he recently celebrated the birth of his first son, Tobias, but also in his career. Del Piero recently renewed his Juventus contract, confirming his Club icon status. Moreover, he also just wrote another page in Juventus' history: last Sunday, against Inter Milan, he played his 529th game for the Club, thus overtaking Beppe Furino in the all-time chart of players with more games at Juventus, and only Gaetano Scirea is still in front of him.

Best wishes to Alessandro from us at juventus.com, everyone at Juventus and all the fans.

Carlo Garganese

Inzaghi, Del Piero left off Italy's squad

ROME (AP) - Filippo Inzaghi and Alessandro Del Piero were left off Italy's squad for the Azzurri's final two European Championship qualifiers against Scotland and the Faeroe Islands.

The World Cup champions need to win both games to clinch a spot at next year's tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

Italy is third in Group B with 23 points, one point behind Scotland and two behind France.

The Azzurri face Scotland on Saturday in Glasgow, then host the Faeroe Islands in Modena four days later.

Juventus forward Raffaele Palladino received his first call up in the team announced by coach Roberto Donadoni on Sunday. Also included on the 24-man squad were forwards Luca Toni, Antonio Di Natale and Vincenzo Iaquinta - who could compose the starting attack.

Italy will begin training Monday, a day earlier than usual.

Del Piero not playing well enough to warrant inclusion but Pippo? Against the likes of Scotland & Faroe his knack of stealing a goal could be vital, maybe a huge mistake not to include him?
