During the pre-matach analysis of Juve V Udinese at Al jazeera sport they talked about DPs contract issues (so my friend told). Alessandro Altobell said:
"This is obsured. Del Piero won Juventus many scudetti, a CL, few Coppas, few super cups, and even an intercontinintal cup. Even more and whether we like it or not, he got Juventus back to Serie A. During this period, he received two pay cuts. What do they want to do now? Another pay cut?? And who's making a decision, a person who is barely 1 year old at the club? Compared to a player who's spent 14 years winning for Juventus.."
This is what he said, give or take ofcourse.

Del Piero: I Want The Goalposts Measured

Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero has jokingly suggested that he wants the goalposts used in the 1-0 defeat to Udinese to be re-measured.

The striker astonishingly hit the woodwork three times during Sunday’s game, as La Vecchia Signora were undone by a second-half goal by in-form hitman Antonio Di Natale.

“I am going to check the measurements of the goal-posts to make sure they are correct,” joked Del Piero.

Juventus started the game strongly at the Stadio Olimpico but seemed to lose their way after influential midfielder Mauro Camoranesi limped off with a muscle injury.

“The draw would have been the fair result,” stated Il Pinturicchio. “I am upset at losing our first game at home this season. It was a match that we could have won but you could also see by the goal they created that we were facing an excellent Udinese side.”

Last year’s Serie B champions had started the season well with victories over Livorno and Cagliari in the first two weeks season. They will be hoping to bounce back when they face leaders Roma in the Eternal City on Sunday.

Del Piero sets Donadoni ultimatum Tuesday 18 September, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alessandro Del Piero has warned Roberto Donadoni that he will never again accept a midfield role for Italy.

The support striker was fielded out wide on the left in the disappointing 0-0 draw with France and sent to the stands for the next Euro 2008 qualifier in Ukraine.

“I accepted playing in a different role from my own and I take the responsibility for my performance. But that was definitely the last time,” warned Alex on Sky Italia.

“I spoke to Donadoni about this. It is right that I am used in my position, where I can be decisive, where I have scored goals and where I have done well.”

That was not the first time Del Piero has found himself pushed out wide for the Nazionale and with Francesco Totti now retired from the international scene, he feels it is time he was allowed to take centre stage.

“I really care about the Nazionale. I would like to see out this era and go to the European Championships,” assured the Juventus captain.

“What I am saying is not a threat, it is a statement of fact. As a forward I can do certain things, but I can’t as a midfielder. Players like Antonio Di Natale, who play that role habitually and probably do it better, are there for that.

“Donadoni has the option of using me as a striker, if he thinks it is opportune to do so. If he doesn’t, then he won’t.”

Del Piero will turn 33 in November and is reconsidering his future at both international and club level, particularly his contract renewal at Juventus.

“There are some meetings planned, dates in which we will talk, so the climate is not stormy – not from me and not from the club.

“There is the intelligence of the people involved that allows us to discuss our points of view that at this moment are certainly different, but we hope they will come together.”

I don't get it. You have a player who has scored over 200 official goals playing at a certain position in the field. He has won his team and NT tournaments, let alone crucial games starting at that position. Why put him somewhere else? Either play him there or dont play him.
