Del Piero makes Juve pledge

While rumours swirl around of a $60m offer for Steven Gerrard, Alessandro Del Piero has pledged the rest of his career to Juventus.
Newspapers in England maintain that the Liverpool midfielder is their number one target once the Bianconeri achieve promotion into Serie A.
Gerrard had already been linked with a move to Turin before the Calciopoli scandal, as confirmed in a quote by director of sport Alessio Secco.
“He is a great player and has been a dream of ours for some time,” confessed the transfer guru to 'The News of the World'.
Meanwhile, another figure is looking to the future with rather more certainty, as Del Piero celebrated his 500th official appearance for the club with a goal in yesterday’s 4-2 win over Bari.
“I would like to stay on and celebrate even after my contract expires in 2008,” said the captain. “If this is the present, then the future looks bright.
I just don’t see myself in another jersey.”
He was the first of the Juventini to pledge himself to their cause following the demotion to Serie B this summer.
While other stars such as Gianluigi Buffon and David Trezeguet also remained, they have made it clear they could request a transfer at the end of the season if the team isn’t immediately capable of challenging for the Scudetto.
