Whether it was because of injuries, or tactical, the end result was impressive. Those we go and on and on and on and on and on anon: should be mindful that there have been 5 goals for the Italian National Team without their beloved Ol' Lovely Eyes in the last two matches.
As much as I admire-and I do- respect and appriciate his worth to us, I have to accept that he is not worthy of a starting place in the Azzurri.

Wow, I haven't been struck by lighten...

Del Piero has won the world cup medal, i am sure he would want another piece of european cup medal too, but as a dp fans, it hurt when i see dp did not even make it to the bench!! it's humiliating for a superstar like del piero, the 4th all time Italia scorer (provided he's not injured) and DP should just withdraw from NT to save his pride. This NT team aint win the 08 europe cup. Yeah, Italy scored 5 goals, but performance was not very bright.3 goals scored last night all from midfields...the forwards can;t score? and we r playing Georgia, hello??? Y we can;t score 3 pass France?? so, no point to be so excited...ya, as an azzuri fans i am happy Italia grabbed another 3 points, but stiffer challenges are yet to come..
and to say Italy does not need DP is a bit too much because he stil can give to Italia...but if the coach wishes to desert him, then let it be..he is already a legend in football world, the most famous italia player after R.Baggio..
i close my case.

There is nothing wrong with his post IMO. He just confirmed that DP is not even on the bench.
true, but I thought the entire match report didn't belong in the DP thread.
Not that I lay awake last night thinking about if this post was moved or not :p

It's making Del Piero look like the inferior player. I think that's why he hinted he prefers to play with 7 in the interview. Del Piero's not Totti's replacement. Totti's contribution to the national team has always been overrated anyway. He was grand in Euro 2000, but disappointing in all other tournaments. Yes, he was unlucky in 2006, but that Italy won the WC showed they could do without a fully fit Totti.

Del Piero Trova un altro Capello

Del Piero senza pace in Nazionale: Donadoni non lo vede seconda punta e lo manda in tribuna. Scelta vincente per l'Italia in Georgia, ma il capitano della Juventus merita rispetto.

I still don't get why he was left out. If it was an injury, why wasn't anything mentioned before? And ya damn right Del Piero deserves more respect.. those romanisti booing him against ukraine :disagree:

Lets hope this is not such a major issue and that Donadoni comes to his senses soon...NT always plays ADP in the WRONG POSITION...why do they confine him to attacking left...let him play in front of goal as a full striker then they will see his real qualities

Why is this surprising? Del Piero ALWAYS gets injured playing for the national team. Whenever there is a week of internationals with one match on Wednesday, the other on Saturday, he never ever plays in both. You can set your watch by his injuries.
He also always has tendon problems and muscular injuries. The two of them can easily be prevented. What is with Del Piero and pulling his hamstring? Just how many times has Del Piero pulled his hamstring? Something in Juventus' medical board is wrong.

This is peeving. No1 has actually given an explanation why DP had been left out. Injury or being ridiculously abandoned by Donadoni? Has they all 4get DP's significance 4 d NT? In any case, he's 4th top scorer of Italy n top scorer of d whole current Italy squad.

I'm pissed off. He really deserves much more respect. It's funny as when they feel tt they need him, they call him, put him in a stupid position 2 fill in d gap; otherwise they just throw him aside - without any clarification? It's preposterous.

Gazzetta dello sport

-------------------------

Chiellini says that dp has much more to give and that he is sure that on monday Ale will score his 200 goal.

Then he says about Ale being excluded against Georgia (not my best translation):

"I think it was obvious that Dp was going to play against Georgia, it's not pleasant to see him out, at the moment I thought that it was due to some physical issues. He is a player that has much more to give and against Treviso we expect his goal: I think that for him it would be fantastic to reach to the 200 goals at his land of origin"

Words by Chiellini...

Evrytime somethin like this happens....i tend to think...ppl in Italy are grossly unfair to del piero at times. I mean after the ukraine game...and after a few other games with dp on the NT, there`s been comments that DP is too slow e.t.c..........lets get one thing straight......no striker whose slow will manage to score even half the number of goals that dp has. Comin back to this big del piero v/s totti debate...even tho i`m a die hard dp fan...i also have a great deal of regard for totti....but think of this....just have a look at the number of trophies each of em has won..and there is your answer....and before anyone comes back at me with the whole "Juve`s a better team answer"....any Player whose won 1 wc, 1 champ league, 5/7 scudettos, 1 inter club cup....has gotta be bloddy special.
Till we know why he was excluded i`d reserve my judgement on don....but if he was fit and excluded....tell me fagadoni...u bench dp for who??......inzaghi/delvecchio

I ve seen on rai alex training in juve camps this morning perfectly helthy so dont worry he is fine.Anyway he has THAT FACE he used to have when capello was juve s coach

Its a pity.
Alex doesnt deserve this.
But on the other hand he is not saying anything. Some people said doing that he shows everyone he is a gentleman.
I think he must talk about how donadoni is being totally unfair and most of all unrespectful with a man that is not only a WORLD CHAMPION is also italy´s best scorer in activity.
Donadoni can call this "scelta tecnica" and rai journalist can say that in a night of victory is not time for polemics ( marco civoli on rai sport this afternoon) for me it was shocking. After so many years seeing most italians and journalist being so unfair with who is the most loved italian player in the world ( and this forum show it) I thought with the WC they will close their mouths before being unrespectful with DP.
Unluckily they havent.
And from my point of view is alex time to talk.
I think he must talk.
I know some of you are going to say " alex will talk on the pitch". The thing is ALEX HAS ALREADY TALK ON THE PITCH and not once a million time and nothing seams to change.
He must talk and then he can tell donadoni to go right to hell
