Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero is keen to ensure that his contract talks with the Bianconeri don’t become a long-running saga.
The 32-year-old had been expected to sign without any complications, but he was angered when the Old Lady offered him a pay cut for a one-year deal and accused the club of a 'lack of respect.’
Within the next fortnight, Pinturricchio’s agent – his brother Stefano – is due to meet with Juve officials and an agreement is expected to be thrashed out.
“I’m not looking for a contract that lasts until the end of my career,” Alex revealed. “I am determined that the whole thing doesn’t become a soap opera.
“I’m still highly motivated and have so many targets that I can achieve if my body allows me. If it were simply a financial issue I would have looked elsewhere as I could have done for the last few years.
“But I don’t just want to play for the sake of it, I want to be a part of something important or go through the motions.”
Discussions are rumoured to centre around a proposed contract extension of a year with the option to renew until 2010 at the same wage.

why a fan cannot regard a player the best in the world even in reality he has never win the best player award? somemore i totally agree that you can be a best player in your position only...after all these years, we only have 1 defender winning the world player of the year and we have ZERO from goalkeeper position to win the World player of the year or the european player of the year..i remembered Peter Scmicheal came at 5th position after the treble season, that's the closest a gk has came so far...
yes, Zidane is a superb player, excellent skill and vision, but he has his down moments too, the thing is award is a very subjective thing. Look at Ronaldo. He did NOTHING GREAT for Inter in season 02 but won the world player of the year+euro player too after scoring 8 goals and won the wc..so, does that mean club achievement counts for nothing?? playing brilliantly in 7 games make you the world best player?
I can proudly say Del Piero is one of the world's best players, even he has not won a lot of personal awards. At least he is excellent as a 2nd striker and actually you guys know what, he doesn;t NEED your approval whether he is great or not coz his name has already been written in the history of Juve.
Millions of fans adore Beckham, Kaka, Totti...they are all regarded as best players of the world, I used to think Beckham is the best crosser+ right midfield player of the world, so is it wrong i regard him as one of the best player in the world when he is on form??
Now you guys are in Juventus, Del Piero forum saying that DP doesn;t deserve to be called one of the best. It's ok. Who are you guys anyway...his legendary status doesn;t need your approval. His name will always be there. Because he is just an enormous f***ing legend in our hearts. Ya, we are all gays...those who support DP are fan boys that are gays...so what? If you feel irritated seeing us showing our affection+support to Juve no.10, then banish yourself from this forum forever...coz all you do is provoking people...

For crying out loud why the drama, you like Juve, just vote for DelPiero!
You want to be a smart ass about it, read the rules for the competition, it is about loyalty, service and conduct on and off the field not about being 'the best'..
Hence Rob Carlos(lot of charity work), DP and Maldini. Respectfully, Maldini is already praised enough and has plenty of trophies (clean or otherwise Turk!) and this is why it is RC or DP, too genuinely niceguys, ambassadors for the game and players who just love to play football..
