A more focused aproach to the question could be ...Does DP is still really useful to Juventus ?

My subjective and very personal opinion is yes, he can be very useful to the team.
The ONLY objective way of looking at it, is by using statistics. These statistics CLEARLY show we needed Del Piero badly this season.

Fine. Give me 10 forwards that were better than Del Piero that year.

First of all, there aren't like 50 world class players around the world. There are only a few of them 10 at max, (and not 10 in every position). Today I would say they are Buffon and Dida as Goalkeepers, Canna and Terry and Nesta as defenders, Ronaldinho, Lampard and Gerrard as midfielders, and Sheva and Eto'o as forwards.

And to answer your question, TBH I cant bother trying to remember who was in what kind of form in 2003, especially as I dont regularly follow other leagues. What I can say tho, is that if DP was world class in 2003, than the standards have dropped significantly.

What those statistics dont show is if someone else could have done the job better.

Have you even WATCHED Juve games that season (2002/2003)?

Look, I used to buy la Gazzetta Dello Sport twice a week and Del Piero was just being hailed as the next Ballon d'Or. Had he not been injured, he would certainly have got better than his 10th spot in the Ballon d'Or standings.
Remember Madrid? Roma? Milan? Parma? Piacenza? Torino? Newcastle? Dynamo?

I did watch Juve games, and while I do admit he was very good, I do not believe he was world class.

Yeah, like having Ronaldinho instead of Zlatan and Adriano instead of trezeguet...How about some Nesta instead of Montero??

Rubbish.

No, Like having Miccoli instead of Alex for example.
Bahahahahahahahahahaha. You must really hate Alex :). Where was Miccoli for Fiorentina this season? The bastard didn't even bother to stay fit.

So Henry isn't world class? That's fine. If Henry's not world class, I agree DP wasn't in 2003 either :).

Don't you get it, these guys don't want to admit anything. They have decided that they are against everything the so called "DP lovers" say so no argument can change that. The best example of that is Zlatan's definitions of "world class" - they're pure humor (only a few players can be world class, you really have your own definitions :D )

Anyway, it seems that there are these few guys who have the energy to blab about DP all year long. I salute you, I couldn't do that! (Not that I even wanted to)
