Del Piero enjoys Juve glory Thursday 2 November, 2006

Alex Del Piero was delighted after Juventus’ 2-0 win over Brescia on the day the Bianconeri celebrated their 109th anniversary.
Pinturicchio scored the first goal and was also involved in the second, when his cross was turned into his own net by Corrado Colombo – although Del Piero didn’t see it like that.
"The goals make it 202 for me now. We clearly showed an improvement compared to our latest matches,” said the captain to Sky Italia after the game.
The celebrations preceding the match at the Stadio Olimpico saw many former Juve stars called on the pitch to honour the Old Lady.
“It was a positive day, both for me and for the team. There was a special atmosphere and it’s always magic to see so many champions from the past,” added Del Piero.
“We didn’t let the party distract us, as in the first half we scored two goals and we were then able to control the game in the second half.
“The unity of the group is making the difference – we are all looking to get the best results and that is why we’ve been able to climb to third place in the table.”
Coach Didier Deschamps also praised his men after the victory, their eighth straight win which puts them three points behind Serie B leaders Genoa.
“We played an excellent first half with rhythm and pace,” said the Frenchman. “Brescia’s technical level is much higher than the other sides we’ve played so far, but the two goals allowed us to control the second half.
“Claudio Marchisio was great in the midfield. I had no doubts that he is a good player, he has quality and personality.
“He did well and I am sure he can become a Juve player – we did not sell him because we believe in him.”
Deschamps was also pleased to see Gianluca Pessotto in the stands, as the club manager is recovering from the severe injuries suffered back in June after falling from a building.
“We’re all very happy to have him back with us,” commented the Bianconeri boss.
