I'm old enough and I saw what Platini and the others did for Juve, but no one did what did Del Piero.. I don't wanna bother to explain this..

Del Piero is one and only and there is no doubt about retiring jersey number 10.

Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero has revealed his anger at being axed by Italy coach Roberto Donadoni.

The Juve ace was not even on the substitutes' bench in Italy's recent Euro 2008 qualifying win in Georgia.

Del Piero claims he is as hungry as ever to represent the Azzurri, but is not happy with Donadoni's decision.

"My will to play has never left me," explained Del Piero. "Being in the stands bothers me.

"There will be plenty of time to talk about this. Am I angry? Sure."

Juve coach Didier Deschamps has spoken with Del Piero about his omission and conceded he is not guaranteed a place in the national team.

"Ale feels good and he's regained the will to play. I respect Donadoni," said the French tactician.

"I've spoken with Del Piero but things are different between Juve and the national team."

i find it ridiculos to retire jerseys. i find it more effective when a youngster, like palladino perhaps, comes along and wears that jersey afterwards with the same effection, dedication and love for the club. that aside if anyone deserves to have his jersey retired it's dp. personally i'm against it cause our club doesn't end with dp, new icons will come and go just like dp did.
but Del Piero is the icon of all icons. Undeniably, the greatest ever

Thats not even talkable IMO, Del Piero is simply numero 1 of Juve all time.

The day a player will give half what Del Piero was giving and still giving, will be the day we can debate who's Juve's number 1.

I don't think I need to mention what Del Piero passed through and what really made him #1 to us(fans).

i think it is unreasonable to retire the no. 10 jersey...no doubt that ale deserves that honour but there have been legendary Juventus players b4 him who had the honor to wear the number 10 on their back...if it is retired then the aura and mystique surrounding that jersey will be lost...as no1 will ever wear it again...i m sure baggio and platini felt that they had a case for no. 10 to be retired in their memory...but there will never EVER be another Juve no. 10 like Alessandrop Del Piero...that is the truth
