Yeah, good to see that Dp showed some class to that sell-out bandwagoner / mercenary Crapello.

The last time i screamed a DP goal so loud was indeed in the 2003 semi against Real Madrid....... and it was my most memorable game till this one against germany.

Hopefullñy Alex will will close this chapter witha fantastic performance on sunday........ they must do it...

Who said Del Piero coming off the bench would be bad??? I never said that...All I said is that there is no diff between starting the game and coming as a Sub, specially for Alex as hes eager more than anyone else to do something. I'm glad he managed to score, yet I still think he should start the final alongside Totti.
when I suggested that Italy should start (against the Australia I guess, or maybe against the CzechsI don't remember it now) with Totti, and he should be subed in the second half by Del Piero, would be logical, and you argued with me because of that..

I said that Because Totti had yellow card then, and he is a key member for the team, no one can deny that if you like him or not, and that Del Piero Can be more effective when he comes from the bench, due to his physical problems, like we saw, and also his will and energy shown in the matches when he comes from the bench, to show that he still has a lot to give.. this was my comment, and I have no problem to say that I was right then, Yes I am glad as much as you that he showeded his class and scored that wonderfull goal, an I love Lippi more than ever for creating a side like this that is not dependent on any player, be it Del Piero, Totti or Toni, because building a team around a certain players always is a lousy thought, and puts more pressure on that player..

But, I won't agree with you about Playing Del Piero from the start, for the reasons I Mentioned, I still prefer Del Piero at the end of the match (second half and on).

Edit: found the post, talk is cheap ;)

What Lippi has to do with Capello??? Capello has a team and Lippi has a diff team. Though I don't blame you, as you can't seem to find the diff between them.

I'm not talking about Lippi's tactics here, I'm talking about your tactics...Who cares If Totti has a yellow or not?? This is Football and Lippi isn't that stupid to sub him for a yellow card. That said, that, after the USA game Lippi wont be having Capello's eye-glasses to keep Del Piero on the bench.

I say either Start Del Piero or Totti AND Del Piero together.....There's no way Del Piero wont start this game, and Lippi will Indeed be criticized Incase he wont go for him...His passes, Ball Control, Freekicks, Passes, Crosses, Calming down the game, Experience etc...is all needed in these kind of games were a draw is Enough.

How logic....and what a nice theory, so we have to Subs Totti on the 2nd half because he is booked??? and put Dp on the 2nd half because he usually plays good in the 2nd half....:Applauded:...

Play Del Piero from the start FFS.

No, but he might ?
why he should do that? you still people can't realize that he didn't have anything against Dp, but it's tactical preference, you all bashing him, but no one is criticizing Lippi for not playing Del Piero more in this world cup .. :faq1:

Lippi will never use a poor player called Ibrahimovic, because he knows what the class is,and Ibrahimovic apparently is not that kind.
Capello was using Ibrahimovic all the time, even if everyone realized that Mutu is bettre player than Ibrahimovic.Del Piero was looking his chance from the bench, and in a Cup games, and Capello used him only when he didn't know what else to do.

Snoop....

I'm sorry I still don't find the connection between these two posts and your point.

My Point and I keep on repeating it....I see a better Del Piero starting than off-the bench....I don't see any diff keeping Del Piero on the bench and then playing him cuz he's the Ace that Lippi got. That suits Inzaghi and the others not Del Piero though.

I find it silly suggestion Del Piero to come off the bench min 70 or 65, thats because I know he can give alot and his legs are as hungry as a fox.

Obviously I'd prefer to see Alex in the starting line up, but I'm not going to complain about Lippi if he's not. Lippi knows what he's doing, Italy have a host of world class players and it is inevitible that some are going to miss out.

I feel Del Piero has performed very well when he has been brought on as a sub, more than he might have done if he'd started. The Germany match was a perfect example of this. The ground he covered for his goal was unbelievable, and I can almost guarrantee he would not have been able to make that run had he been playing 119 minutes of football.

Whatever happens, I'll always be 100% behind all the players and staff when they are representing Italia even if I might have completely different opinions of them at club level.

it's really very different dude. Many of us probably feel that Del Piero should play more in the WC too, but this is besides the point IMO for 3 main reasons :

(1) Del Piero's form during the time of the fiorentina+roma cup matches was his best ever IMO, and he should have played every match in that form. His form now might be a little worse, or atleast the one two weeks ago. Now he might be back in his best.

(2) Del Piero was dropped for Zlatan who was total crap. This time we're talking about Italy's best 11 and Del Piero needs to fight it out with Toni who scored 51 goals in 2 seasons and with Gilardino who has beens scoring A LOT for a few years now. Totti plays in a different position. Also, Inzaghi had a great season and is fighting with Del Piero for a spot. Iaquinta is also used as a winger more.... so it's all down to the actual players. If Capello had a better player than Del Piero in the Juve squad, you'd hear less complaining (except for us really Del Piero fanatics).

(3) Del Piero not starting for Italy has a lot to do with him not starting with Juve. Lippi doesn't want to change the way a player was used for most of the season. Same goes with Inzaghi... this is what they did in the season, so this is what Lippi has got as a reference - he can't get a better picture through trainings - it's the matches that mean a lot. Totti he almost never seen as a sub and when he did he sucked, so he knows he can play only as a starter - this is the season history.
