Del Piero eyes English test Wednesday 16 March, 2005

Alessandro Del Piero believes Juventus will draw a Premiership team in the Champions’ League quarter-finals on Friday.
There are no limits on the draw, so two of the three Serie A outfits could in theory be paired with each other.
“I have the feeling that our opponents in Europe will be speaking English,” said the Bianconeri captain on his personal website today. “On Friday we’ll see whether or not I was right.”
The Turin giants go into the draw with Chelsea, Liverpool, Inter, Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Lyon and Bayern Munich.
Del Piero also commented on the controversial 1-0 win at Chievo, as Sergio Pellissier’s goal was disallowed despite having crossed the line.
“There isn’t much we can say about that incident as the ball had gone over,” he confessed. “But we only knew that from the replays, as from my position and with the pace of the shot, I couldn’t see what had happened.”
Fabio Capello responded to the criticism of favouritism by noting that he and his Coaching colleagues had already voted in favour of introducing microchip technology to confirm when the ball had crossed the line.
“Perhaps the only way to resolve these situations is to introduce a technological system,” added Del Piero, “but it isn’t my place to advise those who run the game.”
