yea, i think they may go with totti behind gila and toni, but i think from the first 3 group games ale will get his chance (i believe italy have a friendly before the world cup and it will be interesting to see who plays and where), del piero will be usefull as he is versatile, and arguably, he is the only one who could fill in for totti in that playmakers role

Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero has revealed he would be interested in a move to England one day.

Del Piero, who became the club's leading goalscorer in their history in midweek, has admitted he is considering his long-term future with the Bianconeri.

The Italian international has struggled to hold down a place in Fabio Capello's starting line-up this season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Trezeguet ahead of him in the pecking order.

Del Piero conceded he is not happy with his lack of first team action and would like to be playing more.

"Some days it is hard and other days it is less hard [not playing]," Del Piero told Gazetta Dello Sport.

"I am not a saint, but I've always tried to reflect and protect my job.

"I've told myself not to make problems that could be bad for the team.

"The situation is feeling good to everyone. Juve win, I score and I play in a good way.

"But despite being happy with my choices I would like to play more. My aims are high."

The 31-year-old revealed relations with Capello have improved after a somewhat difficult time between the pair.

"The feeling has improved because we know each other better," added Del Piero.

"It doesn't mean we share everything. But now we know how to communicate."

The Juventus icon admitted if he was to leave the Turin giants he could only move abroad as he could never imagine playing for another Italian side.

"One thing I would never do is play for another Italian side," said Del Piero.

"I have the curiosity to go abroad. In England there is a taste for good football, whilst Spain is fascinating for champions and is more technical.

"In June I took a decision and I when I took it I didn't put it under discussion.

"It's not easy for me thinking of a future away from Turin because I feel myself always playing for Juventus.

"I was born a Juve fan. Anyway, this isn't the moment to talk about it.

"Until June I'll stay at Juve, then we will consider the situation."

Capello: "Del Piero sta facendo cose straordinarie"
16 01 2006

yesterday I watched the italian show "Dominica sportiva" . they talked alot about DP. Mutu, Mihailovic and Nicola Berti were in the show, they all had great words abut DP.
Mihailovic´s for example: DP is not only a great player, he is great person. He is an example on and off the pitch.

Week 19 Spotlight: World Cup Alex Monday 16 January, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Player of the Week: Del Piero (Juventus)
Alessandro Del Piero capped a momentous week for himself by scoring the only goal in his side’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Reggina at the weekend – a victory which helped extend Juventus’ lead in the title race to 10 points.

Pinturicchio became Juventus’ all-time record scorer with 185 goals in the week when he netted a hat-trick against Fiorentina in the Italian Cup and he repaid Fabio Capello’s continued faith in him by scoring again on Sunday afternoon.

Del Piero has been a Juve and Italy icon ever since first busting on to the Serie A scene with the Turin side in 1993 and, during his lengthy service for the Bianconeri, has collected six Italian titles, four Italian Super Cups, an Italian Cup and a Champions League.

Under Coach Capello’s tenure, however, the skilful No 10 has not enjoyed regular games for La Vecchia Signora, but despite his relative reverse in fortunes has always maintained a dignified silence and shown a determination and great willingness to pull for the team.

This season, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Trezeguet and Adrian Mutu all fighting for a first-team place, Del Piero has again been used sparingly, often coming on from the bench to offer his inimitable contribution.

However, when called upon he has proved his timeless class, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches in all competitions so far this term and, as yesterday, leading by example when the side has been struggling to move through the gears.

"He’s a very intelligent and sensitive guy," said Capello yesterday. "He works conscientiously and with meticulous detail every day. He knew he had to do certain things and be ready when the time came for him to be called upon – and now he is doing extraordinary things, scoring great goals and working very hard."

The Juve tactician also said recently that he sometimes finds it ‘embarrassing’ to drop Super Alex to the bench, but perhaps his determination to do so is the reason why we are seeing the best of him again – and this could be of huge benefit to Italy this summer.

"Del Piero is coming into form in time for the Word Cup Finals," added Don Fabio poignantly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Goal of the Week: Del Piero (Juventus)
Pinturicchio showed why he became Juve’s top goalscorer of all time in the week with the sort of flash of brilliance that separates him from his peers and the League leaders from the chasing pack, in what is becoming an increasingly one-sided title race. Lowly Reggina thought they were going into the break on level terms before Del Piero broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time. Racing on to a flick from David Trezeguet, the Bianconeri captain rifled an unstoppable half-volley into the roof of Nicola Pavarini’s net with his left foot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number of the Week: 186
Alex Del Piero takes pride of place, sweeping all before him with a record 186 goals for Juventus and leading the Bianconeri’s relentless quest for total domination in all competitions.

i agree Rab, if he plays like this he should be in the starting 11, personally, i dont see how cassano has proven he deserves to start, maybe in a few months he will, but ale has, this will be ale's last world cup, im sure he will want to go out with style and with a bang

Spot on.

Even If Cassano was to shine in couple of matches with madrid, still he has to give alot to be ahead of Il Capitano in Germany. However, I'm confident Ale can still keep his form and convince Lippi about that.

Not to forget that It depends alot on Capello. He's such a stubborn person that can ruin everything.

Grazie Isha....for the pics.

I've actually seen Mutu many times praising Ale and talking how good player he is and what a person Dp is and that he's class in and off the pitch. He also stated It's like a dream to play with this Juventus Legend.

Well, Mutu praised Capello and DP.
they asked him, how he and Dp spend their times on the bench. He said, well we are waiting for playing, everyone wants to play. we hope the coach give´s us a signal (Scardarlsi ??) to warm up.. the moderator asked him, how deos he do that with the signal? Mutu laughed and said, beh, he just say warm up :)

later Mutu was asked, which of these 3 are untoucheble(insustiubile ?) at juve ?
Del piero? Ibrahimovic? or capello? Mutu said, what a question :) I would let the fans answer this question.. this question was obviously somthing like a poll. the juve fans were suppose to send SMS with their mind..

BTW, Mutu looked bit nervous, I hope his drug problems are really over ;)
