I still hope everyday that after our attempts to sign a WC striker fail, we will end up giving him another year.
No.

Face life: time marches on. Time must move forward. We'd make a joke of Del Piero playing at 38. This is Juventus, not Zidane's Charity Squad. He deserves to be respected better than that.

Time marches on, but Del Piero's class remains even at 38 years old. Ok, he can't play for 90 min at full capacity, but his contribution could have been decisive in many moments. Just remember the goals against Lazio and shitty inter. Nobody's speaking about charity, it's just a way to show respect and grattitude to a man who fully deserves it. When Del Piero feels he can't go on, he will surely quit, he doesn't need Agnelli for this.

agreed. Plus, his goal against lazio was the most important of the season IMO

If we're depending on a 38-year-old to save our season, we're fucked.

There's a famous Greek tragedy about immortality and how it goes from lofty ideal to gruesome punishment from hell.

It would be nice if we didn't have to out Del Piero through that after 19 years and risk the thought of the Washington-Wizards-era Michael Jordan, where you regret not retiring sooner to save face.

We're not talking about a 38 year old striker, we're talking about Del Piero. I don't think that we should always judge a player based on his age, but on what he can bring to the team. There are players and there are legends. Putting aside the fact that Ale didn't played very much this season (but still, when he entered the pitch, he performed well), he had a huge contribution to our title: after Conte, i'm sure he had the biggest impact on our players, by motivating them and knowing exactly what to say to them before the matches. That kind of motivation could have been useful in this season as well, considering the fact that we are gonna face the Champions League after many years of absence.
