Good post, Badass. It's not that it wasn't expected, though, because it surely was, at his age, but it's still so fucking sad.
i know i know, most of my Juve and Italy shirts have Del Piero on the back, only this season it was vidal, but having already seen the likes of camoranesi, nedved and trez leave the club in recent years i just hope i can cope with losing Ale in the same manner and just reflect upon his glorious career and say "i lived my life watching him" that future generations will never have the same opportunity as we have, something we should be very privaledged by, instead they will be cheering for future legends at our club whom too will one day retire.

I think they've announced it this early to cash in. They know that people will do everything to see Del Piero play for the last time. Tickets will sell like never before.

Would Agnelli the father announce Dp's retirement the way his son announced it today? Unprofessional unless he asked Ale first which I doubt.
ofcourse andrea and ale spoke about this! Ale himself has suggested that retirement has been on the cards for sometime, but wanted to play at the new stadium beforehand.

unfortunately the same with death, there is no perfect time to announce bad news.

The fact that each time I'll see him play or step into the field I'll start my countdown, everyone actually.. Big part of my football passion will definitely die.
you will only make it worse on yourself doing that, just enjoy what time we have with him, and then one day when you tell your kids and grandkids about Del Piero, you can tell them not of how he retired on a high, instead tell them how he played

You're entitled to an opinion Badass, and I know your intentions are good here, but please don't tell people how to feel.

I'm with Rab on this one. Football will never be the same.

:agree: He's the symbol of Juventus. What's trophies without Alex lifting them. ??? What's the Champions league without Del piero entring the field ??

Mai senza.

I respect how you handle this. But we are different. I grew up loving this game more than normal because of him, I fell in-love with Juventus back in 94-95 thanks to him, he's my idol since 16-17years now ever since I was little kid.

Of course I'm proud to have witnessed and lived to see him play, this is something I will carry on with me till my very last day. But fact is a big part of my football love and passion will never be the same again. Some fell with Maradona other fell for Platini mine was Del Piero and no one else but him. Never in my life I have heard fans roar when someone steps into the pitch the way they do it for Ale. There's a reason why he's Juventus number 1 player for all this time and in history.

I will try to enjoy his last season but I don't know what will happen to me on his last day in May.

I feel the exact same way.

In a world full of uncertainties since I am 12 years old I have had one certainty. Number 10 in Juventus has been Alessandro Del Piero.
I know it sounds silly but I feel thay way.

Football has become so much about money and so less about passion and loyalty that I find very difficult that I will ever seen a player with the historical meaning and charisma that Alex has had for Juve.

Probably he and alex talked about it and decided to let Agnelli bring the news out
