Alessandro Del Piero has told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he’ll either play for Juventus next season or move abroad.

The club legend has less than a year left on his current contract and, although almost 36, he isn’t ready to retire just yet.

“Of course I dream about scoring in the new Juventus stadium [which will be ready for next season],” he said in an exclusive interview.

“The decision on my contract renewal will be a natural one, made between myself and the club.

“There is one certainty though and that is that I want to carry on playing – with Juventus or abroad as I couldn’t wear another shirt in Italy.

“I have experienced some difficult times here, but I have always been happy and I am proud of the path I have taken.”

Del Piero has been in Turin since 1993 and has won almost everything on offer with club and country.

“I’d love to play the Intercontinental Cup match against River Plate again, that we won with my goal, as well as the semi-final and Final of the World Cup.

“I’m privileged. It was incredible to win the World Cup and it allowed me to forget about the Euro 2000 Final that we lost.”

The former Padova youngster has come up against some tough opponents down the years, but he misses one in particular.

“Paolo Maldini, an exemplary captain and a point of reference for everybody,” he noted.

Turning to the Calciopoli chapter, Alex said: “Yes, I was angry when it all exploded – for the whole situation and for that which they took away from us.

“But we have transformed that anger into a stimulus for the future.”

And after admitting that he has a desire to play on, Del Piero also noted that he would be ready to add to his 91 international caps if needed.

“If Cesare Prandelli calls me then I am ready to play,” he added.
Great news, his time in Juve is up, he must leave and let new players take charge. He's way too expensive for 15 minutes every couple of matches.

He can still be useful for one season more, and it would be nice if DP played in the renovated delle alpi. But after that he will be 38 and probably on his last legs, so he should retire.

And you are supposed to be a mod? I am right, the guy would be way too expensive for 15 minute cameos. I am just being objective instead of, you know, creaming about seeing him in a speedo.
insulting aside, do you really think that del piero is our main problem, if you do then you seriously need to go back and watch our matches. Last time I checked he is a striker, and our main problem is in defence.

30.10.2010 DIEGO 50 !

For those of my generation and may be not only for us, Diego Armando Maradona has always been a role model in the football world: fantasy, quality, corectness... When he started playing in Naples, I was ten and even if my football faith, as you might know, lay on the other side, like all the other supporters I was captured by this wonder whoperformed incredible things with his ball.

I think that one of the greatest privileges of us, football players, is to make people happy and he definitely represents this concept better than any other player.

On the day of his 50th birthday I would like to join those who sent him thousands of good wishes on this "Maradona Day". I still remember the wonderful words he dedicated to me on that great night at Bernabeu, when I scored two goals against Real Madrid right in front
of his eyes and some other occasions during this summer when he mentioned my name in some of his statements. This is a perfect occasion to thank him not only for compliments but above all for the unforgettable moments he has given to all who love this sport.

And surely, once again, Happy Birthday!
