do you really need to write an essay to say that you want a fighter or a more vocal player as a captain?
its not an essay. There is more to talk about than simply 'want a fighter'. and i wanted to be more careful with my words than before, as i am well aware of how personally involved some members are with DP, understandably so. it would have been cool to get an opinion from you, rather than solely criticism of the post itself...as in How do you rate DP as captain, and who will our future captain be....

02.08.2010 U2 FIVE DAYS TO GO
Waiting for U2...

Interview excerpt from “La Repubblica” Monday, 2nd ofAugust, 2010

On Alessandro Del Piero, Juventus captain’s agenda this week there are two dates highlighted in red, two appointments not to miss: Europa League second leg match on Thursday, and the U2 concert a day later at the Olympic Stadium, new European tour first show of the Irish band that yesterday, came back from France to rehearse at the stadium with Bono.

Alessandro Del Piero, are you going to be there on Friday?

“Yes, I have all the intentions to be there. We are waiting for the last coach program details, but I think that the date of the 6th of August is quite a nice one and so, I believe we won’t lose an opportunity to enjoy U2 in Turin”.

Being a fan, what do you think of Bono and his colleagues?

“They are the myth of the world music, absolute stars that have written the history of rock and pop on the planet level, together with other big personages like Madonna or Bruce Springsteen , Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley. Each their concert is a masterpiece, always surprisingly powerful to see and to hear”.

Bono Vox has admired you more than once. When and where did you friendship start?

“Two years ago in London. We met in the changing room at the end of the match against Chelsea - Juventus. It was rather unexpected visit, that I enjoyed a lot, and also my team mates were really enthusiastic to see him. A lot of us took a picture together with him to remember that beautiful moment. Now we have to find a way to repeat meeting him on the occasion of this eagerly awaited concert in Turin”.

After Del Piero the captain should be Buffon, but since he isn't on the pitch either, I'd say either Chiellini or Marchisio should have that chance. It doesn't matter, as long as Del Piero isn't used for more than 10 or 15 minutes each match if Diego is fit I'm happy.
