He was not better than Amauri yesterday. At least Amauri held up the ball and put in a couple good crosses.
:lol2:

I'm not even going to argue here because I really like Amauri but it's the 3rd time you repeat the same thing which makes me think of Tiago and how you were defending him no matter what, same thing now with Amauri.

You are even more biased than me Andy:D

Because it's an opinion.

And I don't expect objectivity here.

I shouldn't post here anyway because it makes me angry about a player I love, which I don't want to see happen.

Del Piero was completely useless last night. Amauri was very poor too, but at least he offers something with his chest downs.

I don't think it's right to push Del Piero towards retirement. But what we should be doing is planning ahead and giving the youngsters a shot, or finding potential replacements. I really do believe Seba should get a decent run in the team in DP's role of creating on the left side. Now is the time deploy Seba under Alex's guidance, but folks at the club appear to not care about the future.
nor do they care about the presence.

Amauri is bad right now.

Del Piero should not retire yet but he is not getting any younger and he should be ready to spend more time on the bench eventually.

You don't have to address to other when one is getting criticized.

We have no other options but even if he starts scoring his performances are on a level below. Same thing happened to Nedved when people asked him to retire.
He is and always be Juve legend. We still need him, but people should realize his time on the pitch is getting closer to the end.

Yeah sure:D
There was for example a scene where Ale was with the back to the goal and got the ball, he instantly fooled two players and passed a nice ball to Amauri between the defenders, Amauri just needed a simple touch, a turn and shot but Amauri... lost it.
Than another nice move by Ale was when he got the ball on the left flank near the corner, instead of just blasting a cross in to no one, he turned back and made a very good pass to Caceres on the other flank and stretched the game.
I could carry on with this, sure there were situations were I thought Ale you fucking moron what the hell are you thinking!(though I think that about every player in every game) But he neutralized these moments with good ones. Be fair.

yes you do because in this moment i would prefer to see the primavera.. and we can't go down on ale like that.. And ok, let him retire at the end of the season so what? With nedved was something else, but even him performed in some matches..people wanted him retired to make way for gio (and some dreamers for frank) but nothing like that happened. But in the moment i can't see the one who can fill Dp's shoes..

I am not worried about Del Piero. In the last game, he might not have put his pure class performance but at least he was playing his heart out in a team that was without a soul or heart. Players who are standing still and not moving.
Ferrara might have screwed in formations and subs, but honestly even if he was perfect in these areas we would have still lost. There is so much the coach can do before the game but when the players set their feet on the green its up to them to play or not.
This year most of our players failed to show up in almost all games. The games we won were basically achieved by a single man performance (in except two or three games).

- look at how gross tries to cross, he doesn't even puts an effort in it. 99% of his crosses hit the defender.
- Cannavaro looked careless in many games he played.
- Caceras runs around and honestly he does cross often decently, but defensively he has not clue what he's doing (a player who is supposed to be a CB)
- Sissoko bullies the opponents around, but whats the point when he passes it directly back at them and expose the defense in a counter attack.
- Melo is either off form on getting red cards
- Camo is either off form on injured
- Diego looks frustrated all the time. And then he tries to play the most difficult pass in the world where in stead he can play a simple creative pass.
- Amauri has lost hope in scoring.

How can we win? Even if Del Piero wanted to shine or excel it will be very difficult with such a surrounding. He cannot pass the ball to anyone to create because they are not moving. His team mates to run around so opponents find it easy to just send two or three players against Del Piero.

If you look at our games, you'll find the opponent players just standing where they are when defending) and we are not even moving to try to split them. We surrender to their marking. That is why when Marchisio and Del Piero are in the pitch, you often see them passing the ball to each other. Its either Marchisio to Del Piero or vice versa. And these passes are always dangerous and creative, because both players try to move and open up spaces.

None of Del Piero and Amauri is taking the other one's place, so why compare them? Really, why?

As bad as Amauri is, Paolucci and Immobile won't offer even 0.1% more than him. Since Trez and Iaquinta are injured, we're stuck with Amauri. Accept it. We can't play without a big striker.

Del Piero's case is similar to Amauri's. The other two attackers are injured while Paolucci and Immobile will not do any better than Ale.
Perhaps the only difference is that Del Piero's role can be played by Seba, so there is an option here, while in Amauri's case there isn't one.

You can't compare one player with another when they are both bad. When our midfield is clueless. And when we score one goal from action in every 10th match.

I'll say it again. Del Piero should not retire, this team still needs him but they gotta be fair and not praise every his touch and argue when somebody rules him out of starting XI eventually.

It will be hard to find his replacement, too hard. I doubt we'll find one too. But next season we won't be able to see much from him from every point of the view.

And no, this is not a story that keeps repeating every season because he was injured and just came back. I always defended him and he will always be my favorite player probably. Always. But I don't think we can rely on him much anymore.
