Alessandro Del Piero has set his sights firmly on winning the league title this season.

Leaders Inter may be eight points clear of the Bianconeri at the moment but the Juventus star claimed: "There is no reason why we can't win the league and it's right to think this way because we are Juve.

"It's something we have to keep in our heart. We have a quality team and a good mix of youth and the old guard
."

The 33-year-old has made 534 appearances for the Turin giants in nearly 15 years, scoring an amazing 223 goals in all competitions.

However, the striker has not been guaranteed a regular starting place under coach Claudio Ranieri this season.

Despite reports that the captain was unhappy with making cameo appearances, he maintained that he had no difficulties with the situation.

He added: "I have a particular role because I am the captain and therefore the symbol of the club."

Del Piero Class Leads Juve Past Lazio

A brilliant second-half brace by Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero gave them a 3-2 away win over Lazio after an entertaining encounter at the Stadio Olimpico.
Del Piero Class Leads Juve Past Lazio

Juventus were looking to improve their stats in away games as they traveled to Rome to face Lazio in search of only their second away win of the season, while Lazio wanted a positive result to put their defeat against Real Madrid (3-1) behind them.

It was an evenly balanced match in the first half, and it was Juve who drew first blood on the half hour mark, when a scrappy move from a corner kick saw David Trezeguet inadvertedly deflect a close-range effort by Hasan Salihamizic into the net (29'). Replays showed, however, that the Frenchman was probably offside.

Only 7 minutes later, Lazio were deservedly level again. Tommaso Rocchi passed the ball to Massimo Mutarelli, who played it first time for Goran Pandev, who was alone in front of Gigi Buffon and equalised for the home side (36').

In the second half, Juve soon found the lead again, somewhat against the run of play, as captain Alessandro Del Piero latched onto a long pass and slid the ball colly past keeper Marco Ballotta with a precise finish (48').

A very similar goal by Del Piero sealed the victory for Juve in the 71st minute, the finish being even more impressive than for his first goal. Again a long pass from the back reached the captain, who beat the offside trap for the second time and made it 3-1 Juve with a very classy shot.

In injury time, Lazio reduced the deficit thanks to another goal by Pandev, who headed in a cross by Rocchi, but it was much too late for the hosts.

The way Del Piero was controlling the ball, bringing it down, was amazing tonight. Class of the highest order.

Did you see the way he brought the ball down from Zanetti's lofted pass on the backheel and then sprinted towards goal? Sheesh! What class.
