Thank's Almajhool for putting this thread :)
First of all because I have the chance to say that even if I consider the Trap to be a CT meager of modern football tactict,
I don't deny the idea that even the players have their own responsibility.
In fact those players should be able to perform in a respectable way, even without the help of a coach: But now I presume the NT would lose even vs. Liechtenstein :wallbang: (without disregard for Liechtenstein)
Their explanation is because they play too many matches without a suitable rest. And this is not, IMO, incorrect. So I would assume we should give the chance for NT to more enthusiastic players, while I'd keep just a few practiced of them.
Now comes the unpleasant task of choosing which specialist have to be kept and which not. Because even player which I reckon to be the among the best in the world need some rest more than others. So looking among the young players, I feel confident on the midfield and on the forward line, while as for the defense I'm not so positive and I'd keep some players who could give the right practise to the team itself.
But this is just my personal opinion, so don't worry, I have no intention to become the new NT coach in reality :D

Here we go:
---------------------Buffon------------------------

--------Cannavaro--Nesta----Bonera---------

Marchionni-----Brighi---Maresca-------Donati

-----------------------Pirlo-------------------------

-------------Maccarone----Cassano-------------

Sub:
Abbiati
Oddo Ferrari Coco
Fiore Zanetti Manfredini D'Agostino
Bonazzoli Sculli Gasbarroni

Finally! I was waiting for a reaction here from a real Italian that has a better view on things! :)

You kicked out almost all great names  and Del Piero! I know some people in this forum who are going to haunt you for that one! :D ;)

nothing wrong with being revolutionary, but I think you are overdoing it a bit. Your defence and keeper, that is fine for a start. Buffon in my opinion is Italy's best keeper, and nesta cannavaro kinda pick themselves. bonera I've heard is good player, so your defence is great.

The midfield, marchionni, on the few times I have seen him, has looked very impressive, so I'm not going to dispute his name, even though personally i would start Zambrotta, due to his good world cup. To my knowledge, donati is a central midfielder, is he not? as such, putting him on the left would make the team a bit unbalanced IMO.

I have not seen brighi play enough to comment, sadly, so you get away with that one :d. Maresca is super, i really like this guy, but is he ready to perform the vital holding midfield role for the national team? this is a different matter, i would probably go for a more experienced head out there.

Pirlo over totti is fine by me, totti is a wanker.

Your strike force, put Del Piero in there somewhere, and maccarone/cassano could be a good partner, though again, turning down a fit vieri would take some going!
