Poulsen isn't crap, but why would Rafa want to swap for a guy who isn't better than the two other holding midfielders? Especially when Madrid is waving 30 million in front of him and he doesn't even want to sell.
I'm not saying Poulsen could add anything to Liverpool.

I was merely taking issue you your claim that Poulsen is crap.

For the back up striker I'd rather just promote from within or purchase a younger player.

100% buddy. Madrid would overpay for Xabi, and Rafa could make substantial move, or a couple of moves with more of a long term philosophy.

Not to mention that Trez and Poulsen have some significant wages for players in their current situation (with all due respect to Trez, who is beloved, but hasn't had an opportunity to demonstrate what kind of player he is after the injuries).

I can't see Rafa being interested in those two.

It's probably because the few times I've seen him play he has been crap (for Juve). Though I saw him play quite well at Shalke.

Wasn't that for like 18 million euros or something crazy too?
It's 18m eur, but it still isn't that much. Even mid-table English clubs, or even Napoli, pay such money for ok players like Santa Cruz or Quagliarella.
If the big teams thought that Lucho can add something to their play, 18m eur would have been easy to pay.

I could imagine Secco dreaming about Treze/Poulsen-Xabi/Dossena deal tonight :) L'pool would probably ask for both of them for Xabi, but never mind as everyone here prefers Andre Santos now :) We would have CM for no cash and an option of Santos and Santacroce for about 6M each, with Mellberg, Grygera and Marchionni leaving for about 3M each. But we would also end with no money for Trez replacement, so Aquafresca for lets say De Ceglie would be top of our means.

BTW I wouldn't mind Santos-Santon-Santacroce trio :p

That's probably true, I just think that's silly money for Lucho.

he does play for Argentina on regular basis, and IMO he's a better player than D'Ago....experienced at both CL and international level. If i had 15mil€ to choose between D'ago and Lucho,it would be Lucho for sure. Hell,ManU gave 18mil pounds for a Anderson after few shiny dribbles and now they regret not taking Lucho :agree:

That's the Premiership though...

Everyone overpays... it's so ridiculous.
Reminds me of serie A some +7 years ago. Just that the Italian teams (not just Juve, Inter and Milan. But also Parma, Lazio, Roma, Fiorentina etc) were paying 30,40,50 million for fun.

You.Just.Paid.22m.For.Glen.Johnson.

P.S He is rate him, good fullback, in case you wondering, but overpaid double what he is worth.
Well the 22m is a bit of an exaggeration. We wrote off the Crouch (Portsmouth never paid up) sale for a good chunk of it, but I agree it was an overpayment, but it's the Prem and "English talent" costs a fortune. With Arbeloa likely Madrid bound it makes a bit of sense.

And we had to bid against Chelski and Man Shitty.

Yeah, that's a good call Alen. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Good ole, unsustainable spending... eventually the other shoe has to drop (somewhat, at the very least).

Andy, why not? we have Iaq and Amauri for the same position, ant they are,ATM more powerful and efficient forwards than Trez..... let's face it,if we'll drag every player for sentimental reasons like we do it with Del Piero,we are cursed to eternal doom.
Trezeguet is our only natural finisher and goal poacher in the team. I think all top sides need to have such a player in their roster.

But I know you won't agree because you hate Trezeguet, so there's no use for me here.
