fucks sake, this is modern football. our main defenders wear 27, 28, 21 and 19. no one gives a shite about numbers anymore, and pessotto more than others deserves no. 7 as he year after year climbed up the ranks from 22. player can be criticised when he isnt first team material but keeps on playing no matter what, pessotto is erely a squad player who is called upon when there's trouble and he may not be juve material anymore he rarely fails to deliver. if everyone thought like you we'd have bunch o zebinas, vieiras and zlatans running around. your a disgrace of fan and you'll have a hard time making people believe otherwise.

oh, and you're into fights with half of mods. yer fucked :D
how on earth does Pessotto deserve no. 7 more than others...??? Mutu deserves no. 7 , and he should get it next season... Have u ever played football??? Have u ever been on a team with other players??? i dont think so ... Cuz if you have, you should've known that players DO care for numbers, cannavaro could've asked for a "defender's number" but he opted for 28... These numbers were mostly chosen by the players themselves.. because they do care about numbers....
enough of the numbers' debate

I never said that Pessotto had a crap history.. I said Pessotto is crap NOW... even Pessotto himself should admit that!.. deep inside him, he knows that he is not up to the task anymore..... Jeeks started this whole Pesstto debate by misunderstanding what i said... Pesstto was one of Juve's greats and he is still one of Juve's fewest remains of the golden generation.... He was one of the best wingers in italy at some stage.... But now he is not, and he, as well as you know it... you just said it you self :
he may not be juve material anymore
I don't think the way you think for sure.. I think for the good of the team... Pessotto was at some stage a Viera and a zebina... he didnt just came out from no where and settled in well and smooth with the team.... We have Zlatans, Zebinas, and Vieras for the good of the team, they might not be delivering but thats just a different issue....

Again, i'd like to ask you, who are you ? Mr. Juve fans checker.... i guess your one of these beeping machines, when you are close to a juve fan u beep, otherwise u dont.. get a life a dude... and i'll say it again .. If u think ur a hardcore juve fan, then good on u mate.. but u are not the only one around here... and BTW i dont have to make people belive that im a fan... Cheerz

oh, and you're into fights with half of mods. yer fucked :D
I dont even know who the mods are around here anymore... Its a forum to discuss Juve's issues.. so I never care about what mods think of my posts, as long as i respect my fellow members..

Jeeks: thanx for starting something that could've been avoided

Andy: you still didnt answer me. Can u tell us what you thought of Del piero a year ago?

i remember in the 2002-2003 season when soccerage was still open, they had the team of the week, i remember almost every week Pessotto was in it. I always thought Pessotto was one of the most underrated players, he is a perfect old fashioned leftback, I remember this one moment where Roberto Carlos kicked the ball around Pessotto and ran past him, Pessotto turned around sprinted past RC and took the ball away from him with so much ease. A great player IMO wish we had used him more, never liked Birrendelli though.

Pessotto is still as good as any other back-up fullback in Serie A. Furthermore, he's been with the squad for a long time, so why hate on him?

It seems not: Lets turn the hose pipe on them.

These are nervous times we live through: but we will prevail and win that small badge of honour. Then lets sort out the fraities of our team in peace and with dignity.

I'm comparing Zambrotta (now) with Pessotto (now)....

and how do u know that Zambro will be crap by the age of 35 ?!!.... Maldini and Cafu are even older than Pesstto, and they are still playing regular football...!!

    !!!!

Even tho Zebina has been one of our worst nightmares this season.. I still think that he is much better than Pessotto.. The only thing Pessotto is better than Zebina in is playing on both flanks... Last season Zebina was good..

U r kidding ..!!!?? Pessotto is Not better than Chiellini .... look at the age difference for God's sake..Chiellini can run a marathon in a single half !!

Brindelli... never liked him... he might be as good, or as bad, as Pessotto..

What's the point of comparing two players at the two extremes of their careers? Zambrotta is at the peak of his playing years, while Pessotto's career is at its twilight. You might as well bring Gentile into the picture.

You're right in saying that I don't know for a fact how good Zambrotta will be at 35; its my opinion and nothing else. In any case, attacking fullbacks such as Zambrotta tend not to last till that age, Cafu is the exception to the rule IMO. And lets not even attempt to bring Maldini into any sort of comparison here.

Back to your point of contention, IMO it shows a profound lack of respect to strip any senior player of their number the moment they are deemed over the hill in favour of a younger player. There are countless examples over the decades where players well over suitable retirement age retain commonly prominent numbers into their late 30s.

To a lesser extent, its for the same reasons why legendary jerseys are retired.

Age isn't neccessarily a measure of stamina, mind you. Players at Pessotto's age in teams as large as Juve are few and far between, and if anything its proof of his longevity in the game. Pessotto's only real disadvantage is speed, but then again his lack of pace was never an issue through the years. In the areas of awareness, experience, technique and many others he certainly measures up to what is required of his status as a bench player.

If you are a juve player, then the best is expected out of you... No matter how old are you...

Why was no.10 stripped off Del piero's Azzuri shirt then??,... wasnt it because Totti offered more than him, and thus he deserved no. 10 more than Del piero...

Legendary jerseys are retired only when the team officials see that a similar player or players will never be born again... But juve doesn't believe in such shit... Juve have always had great players and will keep having great players....

He is an experienced player... that's not what i'm arguing ... He might be suitable for the bench, and thats good , as far as Juve are concerned... However, no. 7 doesnt belong to him anymore... thats just my opinion.. many might disagree, but thats life ..:D
