Category: General

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could find himself facing another trial by television after pictures showed him throwing a ball at a Treviso player on Sunday.

Ibrahimovic put on a superb display for Juventus, setting up two goals and pulling the strings in the 3-1 win at the Stadio Delle Alpi, but the temperamental striker has a short fuse and another act of indiscipline may have landed him in hot water again.

Although referee Salvatore Racalbuto appeared to miss the incident, pictures clearly showed Ibra hurling the ball at Marcello Cottafava, striking him on the back of the head, after the defender had attempted to prevent the Swede from taking a quick throw-in.

This is not the first time Sweden’s Player of the Year has found himself in this position.

Last season he was banned for three matches after swinging an arm at Inter stopper Ivan Cordoba – an incident that the match official missed at the time.

Fabio Capello will certainly take a dim view of this latest development. Although a huge fan of the 24-year-old, the Juve Coach is all too aware of the increasing frequency of Ibrahimovic’s indiscretions.

The Malmo-born forward has only just served a ban for a foolish sending off in the final minutes of his side’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich this month, after which Don Fabio insisted he would put the player right.

"We will sort him out," he had claimed. "He is young and needs to learn about attitude, but we will put him in line."

It appears that Capello will have to draw that line again.

Source: Football Italia

That's bullshit, they did suspend him last season cuz of Mihajlovic, now they wanna make a new rules just to make him guilty by a stupid decision!

i'm sure its from Galliani and Paolo Berlusconi who are looking forward to setting him up.

No way. Forza Zlatan

A ball to the head? What is this, a preschool playground spat?

Let's just say that Zlatan won't get any Jell-O for dessert with his cafeteria lunch all week and be done with it.

Players have been cautioned for this kind of thing before, if anything Galliani and Berlusca will be right to feel aggrieved if Zlatan gets off scot-free.

If we're going to set him straight it has to be made clear that any minor indiscretion will be dealt with seriously.

Ibra escapes video evidence ban

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available for the Serie A clash with Fiorentina after video evidence of his misconduct against Treviso was deemed inadmissible.
There were fears that the Juventus star would receive a ban after he was caught on camera throwing the ball at Marcello Cottafava, striking him on the back of the head, during Sunday’s 3-1 victory.

However, as referee Salvatore Racalbuto noted the incident in his report, video evidence cannot be used. The official saw the move and considered it unlikely to cause harm.

This is not the first time Sweden’s Player of the Year has found himself in this position. Last season he was banned for three matches after swinging an arm at Inter stopper Ivan Cordoba – an incident that the match official missed at the time.

Ibrahimovic may have avoided a ban, but nine other top flight players have been suspended for the Week 14 games: Falsini (Siena), Alberto (Siena), Fini (Ascoli), Ficini (Empoli), Mexes (Roma), Camorani (Lecce), Corradi (Parma), Castellini (Sampdoria), D’Anna (Chievo).

I would have hit him in the nuts with the ball. Trying to stop a throw in should be obstruction resulting in a free kick and maybe a yellow. So Id say they are even. Zlatan should just sit in the corner til Mrs Libby lets him up.

That's exactly what Zlatan should learn, isn't it? To take all that without feeling the need to give his opponent a good wallop.
